Totally this. The Michelin Pilot SS is over 5 years old. Amazing to see All this pining over old technology! When the 1M came out with PS2 back in 2010 the PSS came out almost immediately and was cheaper and way better. Far better rear grip and more traction and less wheelspin. NOW The Michelin pilot 4S is coming and will be far better than BOTH the PSS and the Conti sport contact 3- they are both technology design of the last decade. If M2 owners should be complaining you should be you didn't get Pilot 4s... |

I agree, just did 2 day M school about half of the cars had Conti's because Continental is the tire sponsor now. They were the DW so not exactly the same as the contact 3 but it was hard to tell the difference between the PSS and the DW. Outside of all out thrashing on a track I can't imagine anyone would be able to tell the difference. |

My car finally arrived at the dealer today, it was an 08/18 build and came with the Michelin Pilot Super Sport, luck of the draw was on my side today, which I'm glad to report.

Please let us know how they are on the street. Curious, I suspect they won't be as bad as we might think but my fingers are crossed my car has Michelins on it. You will love the M2, its an amazing car to drive. I beat on one last week quite a bit and it did everything I wanted and more. Can't wait to get mine.

On the street, tire feels fine and comfortable. No noise that I can detect over the MPE. |

I'm sure they're great tires too, they don't look bad at all. I just have a thing for Michelins, the first tire I buy when I replace tires. Maybe my loyalty to them brought me more luck.

To add some more background: http://www.roadandtrack.com/car-cult...lot-sport-4-s/
Seems the reason for the switch isn't really capacity constraint. Michelin is just phasing out the PSS in favor of the PS4S, so they'll become increasingly rare as the final inventory is drawn down. |

Michelin doesn't have the capacity to provide PSS and still build the new tire in their factory. I find it interesting they are only making the new tire in 19" and above. I am going to SEMA so I should be able to see the new tire and learn more about it and when it will be available. I will report what they have to say. |

Picking up my M2 tomorrow and the CA confirms that I've got the Contis.
I'm sure they're decent quality, but I was hoping for the PSS. There's got to be a reason why the PSS are #1 in their category on TireRack.com, while the Conti's are ranked #20 (of 30). As a way to vent a little, I left a (civilized) comment about it with BMW Customer Relations department via their online message board -- for whatever that's worth. Anyway, all the more reason to burn through the first set of tires quickly. |

I took delivery on Monday and my car has the continental tire. I was also hoping for the PSS, but the continental seems more than adequate for driving around town.

Mine arrived at the dealer today. I went by and inspected although I'm picking it up tomorrow. It has the Continentals. They received another last week and it had the Michelins so I was hopeful. Sucks.
