No way any of the new models will be able to duplicate how the Z4M feels, so echoing the others, keep it! I would have bought another one but can't stomach maintaining two M cars simultaneously.
It's not so bad maintaining 2 M cars, to the point I'm about to add a 3rd one. The E9x M3 is a very very solid platform, and from what I've heard, the Z4 doesn't have that many issues either (apart from maybe VANOS tabs).

Have any of you actually used the M Coupe's Nav and stereo? It is the absolute worst system in any car I've driven in the past 10 years.
We never listened to the radio in the Z4MC. The Nav was God awful (and redundant with the widespread use of smartphones)...and I don't really listen to it in my 981 CS either...the engine and exhaust are all the music I need.

I have nothing against iDrive and no doubt will enjoy it with the M2 or F80 M3. However, it suits the character of the M coupe that it does not have iDrive. The nav, stereo, cup holders, whatever, mean nothing to me when I drive the M coupe. It's a bit different with my DD, the M5, but I also enjoy the analog feeling of that car. That said, when I add the M2 or M3, I'm going to sample all the new tech.

Will the M2 be "special"? Will it make me forget my Z4M?

Any speculation as to the relative handling prowess of the two platforms?

Help me out here... talk me off the ledge or give me the push I need to let go.
Sounds like the M2 or Z4MC play the role of your weekend fun car since you have a 325i. For a weekend/fun car I say keep the Z4MC, I think as many have put it, it will offer a more visceral connected driving experience than the M2, and in terms of looks it blows the M2 out of the water, th Z4C shape is a classic. The M2 will be newer and do lots of things better, but in terms of driving joy and connection it won't offer as much as the Z4mc and I'd say that is what matters most for a weekend/fun car.

Since you're not in a rush why not just wait? You can always get an M2 after driving one.

Keep both at first, then sell the one you like less (if you can't afford to keep both longer term). If you are still in line for being one of the first M2s, you will have no problem selling it quickly. If you like it better, no problem selling a Z4M.

I have a buddy who sold his 07 M Coupe, now has a new 911 but constantly talks about how he wishes he would have kept the M Coupe, this guy has had 9 cars in the 5 years I have known him and this is the only car he talks about wishing he never sold. If you can swing it keep both. The M Coupe is holding its resale really well and actually appreciating so it isn't like keeping a car that will be worth less in 3-4 years. If I had the garage space I would have bought my buddies and I really regret not doing so.

For me to replace my M Coupe, it would take something pretty fantastic. I think the rawness and involvement the car offers is pretty hard to beat at it's price point. And the fact that the value is holding steady, and maybe even increasing makes it that much sweeter.

I left an E30 M3 for the 1M so....

Rawness.. Involvement .... The rawness of the z3 came from the E30 :-).
I'd say that trumps leaving an MZ4 for an M2.

I'm pretty sure you wouldn't have any regrets with an M2 unless your z is a convertible.

I'm doing exactly this. Sold my Z4MC in anticipation of an M2. Will I miss the E86M? Sure, sometimes. These cars provide emotional experiences, and it was like saying goodbye to an old friend. But I've had my time with it and it was time for something new.

I got the E86M because it was a small, balls-to-the-metal driving experience. It served its purpose well! But eventually it was just time for something new, and the M4 was just too large.

The M2 with a MT is a perfect replacement, and better in every way.

+1

I don't know a single person who sold their Z4M who doesn't regret it.

Had a Z4MC for three years, loved it but sold it to fund my M2.

While I absolutely enjoyed driving the car, it became impractical to own at this point as I need a DD. Add to that the crappy interior and want for more amenities (i.e. playing music via Bluetooth) and I had no issues letting it go.

Indeed the coupe is a head turner and more beautiful....was the roadster not a blast to drive?

I'm also thinking about an M2, but I will never sell my Z4M roadster... I love that car and I'm emotional connected to it 😮☺️ I would only trade it in for a GT3 or GT4.

Both cars were extremely fun to drive. The roadster was extra nice, with the top down, during warm summer nights... In my fantasy world, I would have a three car garage and a M coupe and roadster and M2.

The nice thing about the roadster is that BMW made more (or it seems that way) of them, so at least there's a greater pool from which to choose.

The coupes...there's just not that many out there - and the prices are high. I would really like reacquire one for my pops at some point...

At the end of this year my garage will be Z4M roadster + M2. That is going to be awesome...and I can hardly believe I will have two M-cars The difference between the iconic oldschool NA S54 engine and the new 10 years younger turbocharge M2 is going to be a nice variety... The only thing that is missing is an e92 V8 M3 GTS to have the perfect M-car garage (for me). Daily M2 + Sun & Fun Z4M + Track M3 GTS

That's our garage at the moment (his = Z4M & hers = M2), hadn't expected someone else in Belgium to have the same combo!

Cool!!!

I presume your M2 is the DCT version?

Z4M roadster and M2 (manual in MG) is going to be my garage and I'm looking forward to it… My M2 is going to be my new daily car (instead of my 12 year old 325i). When I'm working then my girlfriend takes the Z4M to go to work. When the sun is out and I don't have to work I take the Z4M. For now the Z4M is also my track day car. My Z4M is modified with CSL wheels, Vibratech engine mounts, AP racing brakes, Bilstein PSS-10 suspension, Turner motorsport RTAB's.

It's awesome and I love this car

Anymore feedback like this from past owners?

Yes yes, my next car changes every time I post, but the Z4M Coupe is also on my radar.

I don't think you'd ever lose money on that car as I think the market is not really going to go much lower than it is (not talking about EAG cars)
