Dealer called Saturday to offer me allocation. Two issues with this:

1 - White (Yuck)
2 - $66K

I passed.

M4 money? really? M4 could be free and it is irrelevant to the M2

Speaking of this fake M2 edition, if I wanted to spend the money, I would NOT buy this car and instead, and in this exact order:
1. Look for a low mileage E92 M3, and save $20k in case the V8 blows up and I need a new motor!
2. Look for an E46 and save even more money.
3. Continue to save money and wait for the M2 CS.
If I were you all, I'd wait for the upcoming M2 CS. It will be much cheaper than the 911 (not the same category) and will provide plenty of thrills with the S55 engine, revised aerodynamics and probably equipped with lightweight bits. IMO it will be a lot like the e46 CSL...

I've done some renders here. My vision of the "fangs" will probably not make it to production, but the rest will, if in a tamer looking package... http://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1354499

To go back to the M2 performance edition, I think a lot of people will be disappointed to have pulled the trigger on this when the CS arrives...

I was offered this car from a texas dealership today morning which is getting one with DCT having March production and May delivery. They have it at MSRP + TT&L. I was the 5th person that it was offered to. The other 4 were 3 customers on the M2 wait list and 1 customer who is #1 on the M2 CS/CSL wait list.

That's 5 people who passed on it. It might technically be a collectible but it does not look like too many people even want it. Not sure why this would be sought after in a few years when there would be an M2 CS and maybe an M2 GTS/CSL as well.

Thing to note here is that, it is an MSRP dealership. 5 people passed on this car at MSRP. I am sure they'll sell it relatively easily but it just shows that the reception for this car is lukewarm at best.
One of them might be my buddy .. just got a text he was offered one today and declined

Which dealership? Midtown BMW offered me their allocation (Houston), which I snapped up (before the details were released), at MSRP.

I'm getting splinters in my bum now, I'm doing that much fence-sitting!

BMW made a dud here. I'm sure they'll sell, but not with the same fan-fair that someone in the marketing department was imagining.

The only thing worth while here is the tuned suspension from the factory which, if you don't go to the track, is like paying extra to ensure whoever is in your passenger seat is uncomfortable. And if you do go to the track, then chances are, like me, you don't need a $2,500 beginners course to track driving which you cannot un-option.

This is just a waste of everyone's time, why does this exist.

Also, from what I understand (correct me if I am wrong), the suspension doesn't come with adjustable camber plates?

Maybe so BMW can prove the point that most buyers want their creature comforts. Looks like a lot of people are passing on this model.

My dealership was in Austin. If you can wait a little, I would recommend you to get the M2 CS. Just my opinion.

I'd love to, but the price is almost certainly going to kill that idea dead!

I love all this 'just wait for the CS' talk.

If you already aren't aware you're getting a CS, you're not getting a CS.

Its funny how all these posts remind me of what was written when the details on the 1M were released. A bunch of guys who didn't take a chance or get an allocation sitting around talking junk who are all now wanting to buy a 1M and wishing they had!

I for one, did take and allocation, just like I did for the 1M I have sitting in my garage. And yes it's been on the track (the ring and VIR) as will the M2.

And they will add 35 hp and a different color and ask another $10,000. and then build 3,000 of them.

Probably closer to 70hp added. Would not doubt some other performance enhancements on top of that. Will probably be a good value.

1000% possible at this point.

And if so, I'll pass and go Porsche.

With the s55 another concern of mine is sound. Hoping somehow the exhaust sound improves

Won't take long before some buyers who never take it out on track or in the mountains will put their M2 PE up for sale again ("It's a collectable !") after they found out that the M2 M Performance suspension is actually not overly comfortable for daily driving in the urban jungle.
