Eventuri CEL

Was driving around Friday and my car threw code P00BC for low air flow/curcuit. I have a MY2017 M2 built in August.

I cleared the code and drove around again today and after nailing it in 5th at 2500 RPM, the code got thrown again. I cleared it thinking it was maybe WOT at low revs, drove around for another 70 miles, and it triggered decelerating to a stop.

I've double checked everything was tight and cleaned the MAF and it's still throwing codes. Anyone experience something similar? Maybe MAF failing, although that would be shocking because I only have 1800 miles on it?

Only mod is the intake and it started coming on after install so chances are good it's the cause. No tune. However, I haven't heard of anyone else having problems... Wanted to check here before I remove it.

Thanks for any advice.

BMS air cone filter gave CEL to many users too

In all fairness, I think there's a reason why BMW uses a cold air intake

Try removing it and see what happens, I doubt your MAF is already failing at 1800miles

Functionality > Cool Design + Enhanced Turbo Spool

I entirely agree with you. I was just under the impression I could get both with the Eventuri kit as everyone raves about it and apparently has had no issues. I'm definitely going to remove it next chance I get but wanted to throw it up on here in case someone had the same issue or had a fix before I'm out some money in resale, etc.

Anyone else?

If you are using oil on your air filter, like other brands do, might be the MAF failed, zenmaster actually made a video where he installed a K&N filter but skipped the oil treatment on the filter due to MAF problems people have been reporting, or could be the intake, haven't heard Eventuri throwing CEL's yet.

I have had the Eventuri for over 10k miles and have had two occasions where a CEL was triggered. Cleared the CEL with an app. It's a very sensitive system, but it happens so infrequently it's not an issue for me.

No additional oil. Filter came preinstalled in the housing so I installed as is. It didn't feel like there was oil on it when I touched it.

Yeah, for me this is quite literally every time the system gets all readiness codes reset (50ish miles?). :/

Make sure the MAF is fully seated, no leaks, and placed in the correct orientation.

Double checked. pulled it out and reseated to be sure today. Probably will drive tomorrow so I can report back. Looked to be seated the first time too and in the correct orientation.

Wasn't my video, but I agree about oil spray screwing up the sensor.

So theoretically, whatever oil was on there could have screwed it up.. I guess the only way to find out would be to switch back to stock and see what happens.

It isn't the MAF or the oiled filter. It's the fact that it has different flow characteristics than the stock intake. You have one of two choices when it comes to an aftermarket intake. Either it stays near stock flow and doesn't do anything, other than sound better, or it flows significantly differently (maybe good, maybe bad) and will trigger an alert.

It's pretty much pointless unless you unlock the DME and code for the intake on your own car. Besides, all the Eventuri videos I've seen have what appears to be a compressor surge sound. Can't say it is directly caused by the intake, but take a closer listen for it. Maybe I'm wrong about the sound.

Car is currently throwing a pending code after MAF clean so I'm absolutely going to throw the stock intake on in the next couple of weeks. I'll report back if it goes away for good (expected).

How are you cleaning the MAF? I had thought they were very delicate and sensitive.

My buddy has been running CTS Intake for 6k miles and 0 issues.
I'm definitely not trying to spend Eventuri money and still causing CEL.

Not to get too far off topic but BMWs performance intake for the E90 shipped with a K&N filter so I'm not too concerned about using it. I have one in all my current cars and I have not degreased it. Straight out of the package and into the car. My E90 now has over 100k on it with K&N filters (I replace instead of cleaning and reusing).

OP can you email info@eventuri.net with a picture of your carbon tune around the MAF boss area?

There hasn't been any issues reported back regarding a CEL on this intake. Its one of the most popular kits.

Hey its my friend who has the CTS intake & fmic for a few 6k miles now; I placed my order over the weekend for both since its on sale. Friend managed to get a small few bucks off extra in a GB so couldn't pass this offer.
And yeah thy're a Top Notch in the VW/Audi world (my neighbor owns a Golf R now) and made my decision even better.

Will do this today/tonight and report back. I've been meaning to email them. The main reason I bought it is that there weren't issues reported but here we are.
