Initial impressions compared to '16 M235i: car has more presence about it, but not overly so - very nice design. Feels much more tight, planted and balanced - a lot like the E92 M3. Exhaust note is damn good. Ride is only slightly more bumpy and noisy, not harsh at all - so no prob as DD or for long road trips.
The thing is though, it can't be opened up until 1200mi, which is about a month for me. So "spirited" driving must be subdued for now. Forum members were right: HK Audio is about 25% improved, no question. And the newer iDrive has some nice features like providing full dialog for SMS conversations. |

I put my order into the dealer back in march sometime. Still awaiting a production number. I was somewhere in the mid 20's, now 8+ months later I'm up to #9 in the order bank lol. I'm going to take ED so I'm hoping it takes until april or may. I'm really dying to get this car.

Wanted to bump this thread now that I have some updates on my car.. I was initially told I was a week 1 build, but just found out I finished production early (on 12/17) and car is likely at port waiting to ship, but not on a boat yet. Anyone have any information on how the holidays might have affected shipments, etc? Anyone in a similar position with more information?

I placed my order on 11-19-16 for a week 1 build. Car completed production in late December (finished early). It sat at port for a couple of weeks due to holidays, but ultimately arrived at Port of Brunswick on 1-28-17. Performance center delivery is scheduled for next Friday, Feb 24th. Can't wait!

My personal BMW M2 timeline and my attempt to interject some humor.
8/1/2016 Obsession with M2 begins while watching a video of a M2 racing and beating a Ford Mustang 5.0 in the 1/4 mile 8/22/2016 $1k Deposit and waiting list … approx. #6 on list with local dealer in metro Detroit. Approximate one year wait. Dealer won't do Euro delivery and price is MSRP at time of delivery. Dealer wants the extra coin. 8/29/2016 Contacted another dealer in metro Detroit (1.5 hr drive from my home) and they will do Euro delivery with price being MSRP less 5% ED discount. $1k deposit and waiting list #8. 10/18/2016 Contacted dealer that would do ED and in August I was #8 on the list and now I am “9 out of 11”. Hmmm …. I dropped one spot? How does that happen? I am like ….. “WHATEEEEEEVER!” 10/19/2016 Contact first dealer who won’t do ED and I have moved from #6 on list and now I am #3. 2/18/2017 I call the dealer I was #3 at and to my delight I am the new #1. NUMBERO UNO! I be like …. “Negro Please!” Dealer be like ... "Yeah boy!" and he tells me they don't know when the next allocation will hit but it is mine. Maybe a month or two. Popeye Chicken tonight for me and the misses! Double down on the buttered biscuits! 2/25/2017 After the wife tells me, "Buy whatever car you want", I start heavy research. A short list is created … M3, Jag XE, Shelby GT350 or Alfa Quad. I don’t do hatchbacks so no Ford Focus RS. Could not see paying $14K more for an M3 over and M2 so that gets quickly ruled out. Can't see paying $75k for the Alfa and NO manual tranny. Sold and serviced at a Fiat dealer. Come on! No way for that kind of coin. I really like the Jag XE I built online - sweet looking car. No MT and ??? Jag Quality …. Made the Jag a deal breaker. The GT350 …. Two local dealers with cars. Neither my first color choice … both want $5k over MSRP. I really debated this but in the end …. I don’t need all that crazy HP but man does that flat plane crank V8 sound good. Damn good! Not a practical car at all so the Shelby is out. M2 it is. 3/13/2017 My allocation arrives. Vehicle ordered that week with production status of 111. Dealer states Week 20 build with PDC 8 weeks after end of production. Treat the misses to the Red Robin for a gourmet burger because I be classy like dat. 3/20/2017: Some forum peeps are stating the production dates are being pulled ahead. I call the Genius because My BWM online sucks donkey balls and da genie tells me I am a Week 18 build. 3/23/2017: Contact dealer where I was #6 and they gave me my $1,000 back on my credit card the following day. All even ....Steven. 3/23 to present day …. I am not obsessing very much at all. I think I have crossed the obsession bridge and now I am just in a simple mode….I will call….”Wait”. 3/24/17 - production number received and I'm told production week will be week 16 4/3/17 - Dealer advised me that my order moved from status 112 to 150 which means production started and they provided me with a VIN! So stoked! 4/20/17 - Production ended and car left production facility en route to port. 4/22/17 - Car arrived at Bremerhaven, awaiting transport ship. 5/7/17 - Departed Bremerhaven on Thermopylae 6/5/17 - Offloaded at Port Hueneme Here's hoping it happens sooner or I find another one somewhere in the meantime.
