MPE - replace remote with wired solution?
So I have a F87 M2 with M Performance Exhaust installed.
And I hate the remote It works fast and reliably maybe 90% of the time. This sounds a lot, but not enough to rely on it enough to just fire and forget. I always need to double check. And also because it doesn't have a good storage place it's not really convinient enought to quickly open the valves when I enter the tunnel. And that's a serious usecase! Anyway. Do you have a solution to open the valves in a more reliable way? I was thinking about buying a panel from F20 1 Series with a PDC button and somewhow repuropse it to the valves control. But boy the more I think of it, the more ghetto it sounds... Maybe you have some other ideas? |

You can use this and program the home link buttons. You can also order one with the default “open” you’ll never have to worry about it.

This bothers me as well. I wish there was a wired solution.
The Bluetooth controller works OK, most of the time, but I'd rather have a button on my dash that is hardwired and not have to worry about wireless. Honestly, I could probably build something myself, but haven't really spent much time thinking about it. |

Can you "see" the valve control from the OBD point of view?
What I mean is - is it even possible to code this somehow? I know that the valves are operated by their own logic board in the trunk... but maybe this could be at least aligned with how previous modes operated? |

I have been thinking about reverse engineering the control module. There are bunch of unused pins. If we are lucky just shorting couple of them will do what we are trying to do. I will keep you posted.
Meanwhile I cut the foam pool noodle to create an insert into the door bottle holder. That works pretty well for holding the remote. |

I will be trying the VSC-2 without using the MPE electronics (I will use the stock valve cable) and will report back what I find!

Never got around to trying it because I switched to Remus but I don’t see why it wouldn’t work!

I'm about to order and try it. Right now I manually go to the trunk to open the valves by disconnecting the MPE module lol. Its not very efficient.

lol yeah I just got so sick of the MPE that I dumped it - if you get it for cheap, it’s worth it. Feels bad for those that paid MSRP haha
