No comparison.

The metal mesh ones don't fit with anything else on the M2, in terms of style language.

I have the Acexxon gloss black honeycomb inserts still in the box (want to install the right way from inside the rear bumper) and if I don't install them on my car I'll just put them up on display in my living room. They are that nice-looking!

Of course they will make more sense being on the car though, hehe.

Would agree with the Pep Boys analogy; the appearance and quality of the product produced by Acexxon will be hard to beat. In regard to appearance the honeycomb and slats both relate to current design themes..was going to go with the honeycomb but then saw the slat pattern on the M4...perfect. Now, after the fact I am glad I did because the slat design emphasizes the width of the flared rear end of the car.....awesome!!!!

I have something else in mind, but it's gonna take more time to work on the design and prototyping it. Have other projects going on right now, but more stuff will be rolling out

Here's a sneak peak:

Finally installed my slated versions in my PE last night. One hour start to finish both sides. The videos were a huge help, ty. I had great luck using a pair of long needle nose pliers with a 45 degree bend. Also somewhere in this thread someone stated the Torx screw is a T15, actually it's a T20, but the 15 will work. Also I found that lifting the little tab near the taillight, (the one that prevents that seam from lining up correctly) can be lifted by hand to get it started.
I had almost dreaded the thought of changing them, due to the issues some have had. My last observation is that mine snapped right in place. I have read others have struggled to get theirs to seat, I suspect this might be due to the openings that the new pieces are inserted into being slightly deformed when not removed correctly, making it difficult for the new piece to seat correctly.

Finally fitted mine also over the weekend, have had them for over 3 months but was waiting for a mate who also bought a set to come over so we could fit them together.
He did pretty much all the work but we had all 4 installed in about an hour or so, the DIY'a were a great help, couldn't be happier in the improvement over the already sexy rear end.

Yes, that's what I did too, jack it up remove the bolts and pull out the fender to pop out the OEM reflectors. All should take less than 1 hour

Thank you for posting the pics!

Over the top as aesthetic enhancement only for now and will not get in the way of removing them if work needs to be done to the engine bay. Pricing will be very reasonable if I do get them out in production and will be very limited as I don't think a lot of people will go for them, I just want to be different.

Another option is the Acexxon Painted Rear Reflector Replacements.
