I've just looked at some photos of the new M5, and indeed, there is a black section between the kidneys, but it looks like it's probably the sensor for the adaptive cruise control.

To be honest, it looks a bit silly, but not too bad with chrome kidneys. With black kidneys though it looks ridiculous!

The new M5 has a little bit of gloss paint in between the kidneys. Is that what the new M2 Competition is going to have. Its also a strange looking design detail.

Yup. With black grills it almost looks like it is joined together.

Something akin to the M5 2018 Competition and MP kidneys perhaps? The MP ones could come along in CF like these maybe?

I checked Google's cache version of the thread (at 21:55pm GMT 22/01/2017), when there were only a couple of replies) and the image was replaced by a placeholder.

@BishUK if Gatte doesn't want the pic shown on this thread anymore, you should delete your copy here as well.

Just studying the M5 grill compared to the Cropped pic, they could in fact be one and the same. Only thing is that Gatte said there are 5 slates but the M5 has 6.

As someone who's awaiting allocation for an '18 LCI but is on a list for the Competition as backup Plan B, I'm finding this thread more fun than a barrel of monkeys! Not to distract from the ongoing discussion of the front, but can someone smarter than me connect the dots on Gatte's posted photo of the spoiler? I know he's getting hammered with requests already, so I'm not putting Gatte on the spot, but he posted a photo of what clearly appears to be a spoiler, but his updated OP with list of design changes doesn't include anything about a spoiler. What are we thinking about that spoiler image?

I think he meant that there was another car in this video that had a spoiler, likely the "M2 Racing" that was alluded to by ynguldyn in his "upcoming models" thread: http://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...postcount=1512

Forum police alert! Thanks for your concern. Being respectful, I checked the whole thread before posting the pic - nowhere does Gatte say why he removed the picture, not that he wanted/wants the repost removed. If he does want it taken off then i will do exactly that, meanwhile it's up for everyone to enjoy, including you.

To me this looks like the end of a wing, implying GTS, hence the status unknown comments? Kermit sips tea.

Is the photo everyone's stressing over here, or have I missed part of the story?

The following picture points to one of the parts of the car which would distinctly identify it. I am not sure how I can be any clearer.
That's an easy one, Gatte: see the second picture below.

August 2015: BMW tests a rear wing on an M235i Racing on the Nürburgring Nordschleife (see here and here):

February 2016: BMW presents the BMW M2 MotoGP Safety car, which features a rear wing (see here):

I have to admit that the resemblance is uncanny.

I had a déjà-vu when I saw your cropped low-resolution wing picture.

What has been seen, cannot be unseen.

Also want to add that the CS/Competition confusion is really not confusion. We are only confused because we were led to being confused.

Everything makes sense. and it has nothing to do with what was "seen and cannot be unseen".
