If the 1M was sooo good, this car should be a masterpiece

But if I were to get a F8X it would be 6mt stripper w carbon structure cloth.

I thought the 135 was too small. So I'm hoping the M2 fits the bill even though I wish it had the S55. But based on BMW's direction as of late and the swelling of the model line I can see how you just want to get the S55 when it comes time.

Here's hoping BMW knocks the M2 out of the park. I'm excited for the M8/M10 halo car as well as the next V10 M5.
I agree that the F80 is on the big side, especially considering I drove the E36 to the dealership that day. But that's kind of what I want though, a mini M5 to go along with the E36 and E92 (we'll see if that goes according to plan or not).

I just wished BMW would have stuffed a detuned S55 in there, and offered a sedan or Gran Coupe version, along with 200 lbs weight loss. I would have been drooling at that car. That's what would take me to skip the F80.

P.S. Yea, if I ordered new, it'll definitely be cloth seats. Along with LED and HK as the only options.

Nice!

I am gunna keep the 235 for a bit, I still love it and I could have bought an m3/4 instead if I wanted to but decided to work my way into things. I would like to pickup a new SUV before I get another car.

Two twin-scroll turbos would not work on an inline 6. With the N55, three cylinders feed one scroll, and the other three cylinders feed the second scroll. With two twin-scrolls, you would somehow be piping 6 cylinders into four scrolls which obviously is not ideal. You could potentially have three twin-scroll turbos with an I6 though, with each cylinder feeding its own scroll.

M division did do something about the throttle response on the M4 with the use of tiny turbos. i hope that they would do the same with the m2 and minimize turbo lag. on the n20's there is no turbo lag because the turbos are so small

i really don't care what the engine is as long as it gets the m treatment. big power, big handling, instant throttle response, aggressive looks.

you guys are crazy if you think almost 400 hp in that little car is not enough.

BMW are too sterile and nearly everything in BMW's portfolio is soulless.. and meant for commoners! (LCD). They have seem to lost their dna, or heritage of driver's car.. too many nannies, etc.

Does it bother anyone, that BMW is not racing any new cars..? Why no 2-series in any events? Just drift videos..?
Exactly. BMW needs to go back to basics and produce a lightweight car to compete with a Lotus, but until then it's the M2 or bust for me. I'm going elsewhere if it doesn't have what I think the car should have...specifically:

* cloth seating (option)
* manual seats (option)
* moonroof delete (option)

Taken together that's probably 100+ pounds of weight savings right there.

I also want fixed damipers as an option because I don't want to pay to replace the electronic ones in 100K miles. If the Cayman can come with fixed dampers, the M2 should also.

I'm sure it'll give the M4 a run. The 1M was nearly as fast as the M3.... But BMW better crank up the heat. The class is going to start leaving the 235 in the dust. CLA45 already smokes the 235, and the new $41k S3 Audi smokes the CLA45... Both the Audi S3 and CLA45 run 109-111 mph in the 1/4mi. while the 235 is still in the 105 mph zone, same as old 135. Unless the AWD 235 gets a bump in pwr to 330hp/335-340 tq to run to 60 mph in under 4.8 sec, the 235 will be the slow poke. The M3/4 needs a bump to 440-450hp and the M2 needs a solid 380 bhp. A simple tune puts the CLA45 into supercar acceleration territory from 0-60. The tune takes its 0-62 mph from 4.6 to 3.8 sec. (60 mph is 3.65 sec), and 1/4 mi goes down from 12.8@110 to 12.2@114-116 and that's just the stage 1 with 415 hp/395 tq. And if that were not enough, an Audi tuning buddy in FL told me a simple tune on the new S3 takes its 292hp/280tq upto 345hp//330tq. In a 3260-3300 lb sedan, he expects that 4.4 sec 0-60 to come down to a nice 3.6 sec, all for $600, on 91 octane. That's the Audi S3 stg 1... Stg 1.5 is a additional 15 hp/10 tq from a intercooler upgrade & no tune required. The Stg 2 is a small boost increase again, taking hp to 385hp/370tq.... This would put the S3 squarely in GT-R 2.9 sec 0-60 territory. The stg 2 can be installed for less than the price of a $46k M235 which I believe needs a proper name: 235is with M-package. So I'm giving BMW time to boil the ingredients and see what comes out, but that's it. If we can't get the AWD option of the 235 on the M2, I'm making the move to rings.

if you want 0-60 and 1/4 times, why don't you just save up for a hellcat charger or a gt350 mustang.

the 2 series is better than the CLA and S3. if the S3 / CLA had 500 hp, the 2 series would still be more balanced and it'd just feel different. and i'm sure plenty of people here wouldnt care and would still go bmw. I used to own an A4 quattro. its stable, it feels solid, but its no where near as fun.

i want fun, not a drag slip

I really think they had to do way more than what they have been doing... Jeremy's B-team theory is really sounding more correct after seeing what MB has in their sleeves.. the new C... CLA 45...

1320 aside the m235i just walks the CLA45... Add xDrive, and you can make it even worse for the CLA45. Add a tune and this Quasi M Car will do even better. MB is the one that needs to step up the game. They will need to bring a Black Series CLA45 to the table to beat this current car, and the up coming M2 is going to really bring the party to the mix. BTW I completely agree with the naming 235is vs M235i.

The argument of the MB and Audi and even the Golf 7R being better than the M235i (agree its not the best of badges) is only relevant in 1 factor; straight line speed, 0-100 times.
So if that's what you after, that's where you should be looking.
Whereas;
Driver's car: BMW>others
Track Ability: BMW>others
RWD: BMW>others
Fun Factor: BMW>others
Doesn't make you look like a complete unimaginative twat that only drives in straight lines: BMW>others
Drifting: BMW>others

The Mustang may be able to deliver a similar visceral experience, but couldn't forgo the all-round superiority of the BMW ///M Division for a shovel.
4WD and DSG is boring as %&*#! That is a FACT! Even when modded they feel boring, they just make more noise and the needle moves quicker.
"Aaah come for a ride, watch how quickly the needle moves"
