I've been on a list for awhile, first for an M2 GTS, then for an M2 CS/CSL, the question is, do I need to switch it again and am I going to be late to the party?

If you want a Competition, you should inform your dealer. If there is a limited model coming after the Competition, whether it be a CS or CSL...you will have to wait. We will not have confirmation of such model until we see M2 test mules wearing additional aero pieces show up on the ring. I don’t see this happening until post M2 Comp release. To this date we have yet to see any CS/CSL test mules. The M4 CS and GTS test mules were easy to spot.

I read over the first page but couldn't find the "speculative" pricing for the M2 competition. If the M2 Comp is going to get the S55 & Other goodies, what will the price jump be? The M3 Comp pack was $5k. Will it be a lot more since it's a different engine?

Nope, or mayby!

What car do you want to buy? The limited edition not confirmed one?
Or the other one that everybody knows is coming but just some know what is.
Is it going to be better than the M2 we have now. Hell yea!

If BMW is playing around with the VIN systems and calling it Competition/CS/Cs and what have you, I would say that the M2 Competition that we all see is not really the CS that we all saw towards the end of 2016 and the start of 2017.

Maybe BMW just updated all the VIN specs to show Competition but contrary to what most of us believe right now, actually had 2 different cars in there the whole time:
1, The soon to be unveiled M2 Competition with basically M3/M4 parts,
2, Unknown M2 variant (Actual CS) with more tuning and development.

I really do not think BMW will be testing the M2 CS between now and right after the M2 competition is unveiled because that would just mean that more and more potential customers would just wait for the CS instead of forking out money on the M2 competition. BMW probably already has the M2 CS but will wait till closer to the actual unveil (next year) before we see too many spyshots. This would be very similar to the M3 CS which was built and ready for production months before anyone saw those staged spyshots.

Maybe we will need to start another dedicated thread that is not on the lines of "M2 CS = M2 Competition". Only time will tell.

It might be more - just because of the engine like you said above, but I don't think they will let it get over 60K (base) for the Competition. You might be able to spec it to much higher than that (CCB) but I wouldn't think the "new" base M2 would be get that close to a base M3/4.

We are supposed to know more in April, right?

I wonder if such a car will also be priced at an, ahem, astronomical level like the M3/4 CS versions.

(I happen to think the M3 CS is a better buy than the M4 CS, but we've not even seen official pricing for the M4 version, and it was released first, and many months ago at that)

Exactly. And if the ridiculous price bump the M3 CS got is anything to go by, I wouldn't be getting the M2 CS, if it goes that route. Not to mention, it's DOA for me, if it's not a manual.

Somethings up with the bimmer.work site, not seeing the background or images of the car. Here are a couple of lookup screen shots.

Why not? Once it has the S55, it is pretty much a funner version of the M4 except for the seats, isn't it?

Sure it is, from a theoretical performance standpoint - but other, more subjective distinctions will probably rule that decision making process (interior qualities and whatnot).

But generally speaking, I agree with you - for example, if I wanted a 718 or 991.2 GTS, why can't I have the same engine in either car, because I might like the looks or balance or whatever of one over the other? It makes sense logically...but the brands we love have spent a lot of capital on brand recognition...and a 911 won't trump a Cayman, just like no new kid on the block M2 is going to outperform an M3.

Why do you think the M2 is so heavy? it would be a better performer with the S55 and less weight...so it got the N55 and more weight than it needed.

Now that more definite info is out, I move to separate the threads into M2 CS and M2 comp or just merge the two essentially identical stickies.

No kidding, guess we can blame that on the trolls at BMW for vacillating on the name every few months. All these threads act as en echo chamber; same sh!t, different thread. Come tomorrow I'll have no idea which thread I posted this in.

I think we need another thread for actual news and updates! I keep checking here and it's about 2% information, 18% speculation, 80% chit-chat.

What do we actually know at this point besides:

S55
Silvery-whitish paint

Anything else?

There is also the optional 788M wheels, which apparently look very similar to the 1M wheels.

The 359M wheels were such a PITA to clean. Loved them, but....

Gotta think the 666M wheels would be worse. (Also don't like them nearly as much as the 359M personally)

Agreed! I'm not sure what BMW was thinking with the 666M wheels. Every time I see them all I think about is cleaning them. IMHO they are too busy looking.
