Does your speed warning stay saved?

I've had my 2018 M2 for about a month now.

Could someone check if their Speed Warning stays set after they turn off their car?
The setting in idrive where if you exceed a specific speed you get a sound and message saying you have exceeded your speed.

My old BMWs did but my M2 won't.

I coded my car when I got it so I was trying to see if I messed something up.

Thanks for your help.

Yes. I have mine set at 80. Unfortunately, it goes off all the time! I can't understand why! And that gas light thing likes to go off pretty often too!

What’s the point of a speed warning lol... you should know how fast you are going

I’m just kidding

My stays saved. I have it saved at 80mph too, but I wish it was a little smarter by being tied to the speed limit info where I could set it to 15mph over the posted limit.

It should have a different tone though. I should speak to you! "Hey, buddy, slow down." Or "Why the ()&*&) are you going so fast?" or "You are wasting gasoline, slow down."

LOL

I like the reminder, even if moving 'with the traffic' I don't want to find myself at 85 because when I comes to following the minivan and pickup in front of me, the little white Bimmer will get the ticket.

85 seems to be the speed people drive in northern California, not sure how you could do 80 and not have it beep at you all the time.

I have mine set at 130mph since that is the speed limit of my winter tires.

I don't expect to ever hit that in winter, but who knows...

Tell me where I can hit that speed in the summer in the US, outside of a track, so I can plan a trip!

Thanks everyone. Looks like I messed it up when coding. Now I need to figure out how to fix it.

Actually....... based on this thread I tried my speed warning setting . Mine does not stay set. Resets to off and speed at 4mph. I also have a 2018 delivered in the last month. I have no additional coding. Not an issue for me as I don't use it but I thought I'd let you know.

Thanks for looking into this. I'll just stop using it.

Got my 2018 in December and my speed warning doesn't stick either. I'll bring it up during my first service appointment and see what they say.

I have a speed alert set (85) on my Uniden radar detector. Nothing obnoxious, just changes the display to read Speed Warning or something like that in red.

I have MY17 and I set it to 96mph. Well I was behind a Bently coup and I heard the speed warning go off today, so I guess it remember the speed warning.

Stick with 1 key... don't switch keys everything swaps when you do.

Did anyone ever find out about this? Mine’s doing it too. I’m going to mention it at the first service. Mine was registered in March, but was an October build.

PS: I haven’t been switching keys.

Hi Spacer,

Unfortunately I never found out the resolution to this either. It has been bugging me for months. Ultimately, I don't use the feature anymore (but I want to!).

I raised the issue with my garage and was told this is 'normal behaviour'. When I contacted BMW they clearly informed me it was not normal and to raise the issue with my garage. Round in circles. I gave up in the end.

Hoping someone finds a resolution though...

Mine is booked in for a look when I get the run in service. I'll push for a software update, as I'm sure it's a software glitch.
