If you want be be on the safe side, get the OEM windscreen and have it done by your dealer. OK, it will cost more, but you'll have peace of mind that it will be done properly.
Sometimes things may get messy with the technology attached to the windscreen. My dealer told me that he already had to take care of cheaply repaired windscreens gone bad (technology no longer properly functioning).

This happens all the time in AZ, rarely do I make it a full year without having to have a windshield change. I am guessing you don't have zero deductible glass coverage. The windshield will be the same as the other 2 series so it shouldn't be hard to find. Might want to call your dealership just to get a price, the often times do business with a windshield guy and have him use OEM glass. Satellite is a good source, they claim to provide OEM glass but I haven't had that experience. I can say they do excellent work and their glass is high quality. I would stick with someone like them who has a strong reputation because the auto glass business can be kind of hit and miss.

Did a quick search on Real OEM, the part number is probably 51317240639. There are a couple of different windshields based on the sensors and tint at the top but I am pretty sure this is the one. Doing a quick google search shows this windshield selling for $245 at most dealers so not bad at all.

I had a terrible experience with a windscreen replacement on a car with auto-wiper tech a few years ago. I came out to find the technician struggling with the sensor, which was on the dash with all the wires snipped. I lost my temper at that point...

+1 Just had it done with my 335. It was BMW OEM glass and the tech had zero issues with the sensors. Make sure and give them your VIN and they should be able to get the right piece of glass.

Local dealer here uses OEM glass but brings in outside installers. The big difference is the outside installers know what they're doing installation wise. And the labor price is much more competitive than if the dealer did it themselves ($200 vs $1k install +parts).

This is also where it helps to be a BMWCCA member. Most dealers will give you a parts discount.

Dealers do not install windshields.
1. Call favorite dealer and see who they recommend. 2. Call insurance and see if they are a preferred vendor 2a. Ask if OEM glass is only option for your car or not, usually not a problem for newer models. 2b. If you insist on OEM glass when non-OEM is an option, insurance will make you pay the difference. 2c. Insurance will only pay installer not dealer. 3. You may prefer have installer schedule with dealer, since the dealer's waiting accommodations may be better or dealer may provide a loaner. If you do not have any body damage, read don't expect them to repaint chips in your hood, then this will fall under comp instead of collision and associated deducibles will apply. I would only use OEM glass at a minimum. However, having suffered a botched replacement, I would strongly recommend going to an official BMW Collision Center. If you've ever looked at the windshield replacement instructions from BMW, you'll understand why. The instructions are extremely specific in terms of prep, adhesive cure times, etc. and specify tolerances which require proprietary BMW tools. A lot of people will say it doesn't matter as long as the installation looks good, but the windshield is an important safety element that I would only trust to BMW trained individuals using OEM parts.
