MY17 Bmw M2 Turbo Size/Boost
Does anyone know the specs of the turbo, the inducer, exducer sizes? and housing sized?
Also what psi is the stock car running? I've got an ESS 'Stage 3' tune, with Full catless exhaust, charge pipes, Wager evo 3 FMIC and Drop in air filter. Curious to see how much PSI my turbo is now pushing and what kind of power it makes.. Anyone with these specs? Also if the turbo isn't manufacturered in house, which turbo is it? |

1) Stock car boost up to roughly 15psi at sea level, that will vary to temperature.
2) Personally I wouldn't categorize tune to stage because there isn't really fundamentally different approaches in tuning between so called stages. Well, stage 5 definitely sound cooler than stage 1. ESS may have a stage 3 tune, but Wagner doesn't have a Stage 3 intercooler LOL 3) How much boost you have is all in the tune. You can use OBD data readers to know that. My suggestion would be to just have fun hitting a roller to know how much more power from a before and after. 4) BMW N55s are just varants of Borg Warner B03. We're no turbo engineer. Physical dimension holds no meaning to us, unless you have to know you have a bigger turbo, comparing same framed turbos on a "all others being equal" basis. Keep in mind, there're a lot more than compressor and turbine to dictate the flow characteristic of turbo. Anyway here you go. Compressor: PWG: Exducer=62mm, Inducer=46mm, Trim=55 EWG: Exducer=67mm, Inducer=50mm, Trim=55.7 Turbine: PWG = EWG. Inducer=53mm, Exducer=46mm, Trim=75 Take EWG for M2.

Our sensor won't read above 20 psi if I'm not mistaken.
Even then 18psi is about maxed out for a stock turbo, anything above that is just hot air. People who go aftermarket tend to switch out the tmap sensor to run/read higher boost. Engines are fairly bullet proof, people pushing crazy pressure on stock internals with n55. Our n55s are probably the most robust from factory..its the last hoorah for the engine. |

What's the limit of the tranny? Is our Dct as beefy as the M3/4 or do we need to come up with a few grand to get some Dodson clutch packs?
How about the 6 speed? What are the torque limits |

The $300 Dinan sport tuner boost controller can target up to 4 psi over stock (race mode for 93 octane) with no other supporting mods. Stage 4 (bigger turbo/IC, full gamut tune), I believe, targets 5.5 psi for a grand total of ~21, which per Dinan's moderate power gains, is still very safe.
