I drive an Audi A6 with this feature and its great in traffic, basically semi-autonomous.

I believe you can get this option in an M2?

So this is a camera system and not a radar system?

So basically this car does not have adaptive cruise control?

1) Does the manual have rev matching?

4) Can I fit 2 child seats in the back?
5) Can you get them with a sunroof?

Anything else I should know about this thing?
2. No. I find the car to be such an evolved instrument that you can't gain pleasure from a grotesque gesture of pressing the left let against the clutch and moving your right arm in H motion. The M2 should be much more than that. You get pleasure from braking late, position the car to kiss the apex, balance the car thru the corner, feather the throttle on the exit.
3. The MPE sounds a bit too exaggerated for my taste. You will loose the metallic zilling of the engine, being covered by the exhaust.

2018 BMW M2  [0.00]
considering many other MT cars I used to DD in heavy traffic, this M2 would probably be a cake to DD because everything is so light. so easy to drive; Clutch is light, shifter is light, it even matches the revs for you... why so many complaints?

No, it does not. The cruise control just modulates speed to maintain the set speed.

The camera is part of the executive package and is used for low speed warning/braking, not for the cruise control system. The front end has no radar sensors.

Because over the course of 60-90 minutes pushing your legs in and out a thousand times gets really tiresome and causes excessive clutch and brake wear. If you're lucky, you'll get ankle cramps too, so stay hydrated!

How often do you seriously do this? Shelling out for an M car to sit in traffic it seems just bonkers to me. If you do this on a regular basis for crying out loud buy a corolla to get to work.

Thanks for your concern. My daily driver is a MINI. I would never waste big money on a traffic jammer - that would be ridiculous.

Why would you buy an M2 and then just sit in a Corolla instead? Why not just cut out the M2 at that point? An M car in the garage is a waste. Might as well drive it if you're going to buy it..

Because the leather seats in my Corolla are nicer than my M2.

Konig, I believe your initial 5 questions have been answered so I'll move on to this one.

As termigni, says below the clutch is light, and it auto revs to 1k when you release the clutch in 1st gear, plus that hill assist thing makes the M2 a real easy standard to drive. However, it really depends on what you mean by stop & go. If your daily commute is one hour of moving 10-30 feet, then coming to a complete stop and repeating it 70 times, then dct is the way I'd go. Half an hour of slow moving traffic, but not a ton of complete stops, then I'd definitely be in the 6mt.

termigni, I agree, the M2 is a very easy 6mt to drive. So I'm not sure that all the people are complaining but just sharing their observations.

This is also not a complaint, but sharing an observation as compared to my 370Z. While the M2 clutch is noticeably lighter then the Z's, the pedal travel is longer, not just below the engagement point, but after it engages as well. Also the Z's shifter does not have that rubbery feel like the M2's and the gates are much more clearly defined.

Even with it's longer travel, I prefer the M2's clutch, but I have to say, the Z's shifter is superior to that of the M2.

Hey Aloha, I'll bet my DCT would be faster around Mt. Tantalus Drive than your 6MT.

Picked up an LCI 2018 M2 last night. DCT. So far so good, still learning everything about it.

Congrats! I think yours is the first LCI we've seen on here on the west coast (assuming you're in California). What was your build week?

No doubt, fun times for sure, but we'd have to follow that up with poke, kalbi on the hibachi and some Kona Brewing brew

I had an order in for an M2 since about July (I had not received an allocation at all). I was browsing auto trader earlier this week and came across a 2018 listing. I called the dealership and confirmed they had it. I stopped by and inspected the car and sure enough it was a 2018 with the new instrument cluster and lights. I found out that someone had ordered this car and decided not to go through with the purchase, so I swooped in and was able to get it.

Congratulations. What options on the car? Is it close to the spec you ordered?

Very close to the specs I ordered. DCT with the executive package. Only deviation was the Apple Car play (I have android). I do have to admit... I was smiling all the way to work this morning even though I was mostly stuck in traffic. I can't wait to take it out this weekend, should be great.
