Great informative video, can you elaborate more on the M2 vs 1M comparison. I was able to get seat time in an MT M2 on CA backroads with a few negative comments: electronic steering is bleh (hydraulic night & day improvement), rev matching needs to be coded out, interior infotainment and layout is a little bit crowded just like my previous 228i.

Those points coupled with my 07 M coupe ownership point me towards the 1M as a creme de la creme do-all car. With prices nearly equal I find it a hard to justify a 6 year old car with 1-2 owners versus a new from factory variant.

Thoughts?

The 1M is a little crazier and nervous than the M2.

The M2 is a normal BMW in comfort mode but becomes alive in Sport and Sport+. The 1M is always alive, always hair on fire, no relaxed mode for that car, which I think is the best thing about it.

The biggest difference driving them back is the steering. 1M steering hydraulic vs M2 electric. 1M wins steering all the way.

The M2 is more electronic, easier to drive fast, more predictable. 1M you need more skill to tame it, that's the appeal to me.

You can't go wrong with either choice, but they are different cars. Drive both if you can.

I would love to review a Z4M as well. Definitely on my list to own one day.

Glenn

Paint thickness (chips), door dings (steel [still in the doors, yes?] strength)?

How is the paint on the wheel arches holding up? How much debris is getting flung at them? Anywhere else especially susceptible?

Any sign of the pulling to the right issue?

Performance tire life? (Un)even wear?

Did you take exec and if so how has living with auto high beams been?

How much if any damage sustained to front lip from dips, potholes, steep driveways, etc?

--

I appreciate the frequency of your videos but wish they had more about the driving or the day to day. I know you answered another member's questions in a prior vid.

Curious to hear if you've gotten used to the power and power delivery - I.e., whether you are still impressed by it, or if you're over it, now.

Any track days? Spirited canyon runs (or whatever qualifies back east)?

Keep up the good work!

You will like the 15 month video, just filmed it today. Should be up in the next 2 weeks.

Great review. You said in your review that it is a great daily driver. I'm wanting to get an M2 I've never owned an M. I owed the ZHP which was also the E46 body style. And I've owned a 1 series with the M sports package. In sports mode that car felt great. My Zhp was a very stiff ride but I loved it. Three years ago I quit driving manual transmissions. My 1 series had dual clutch and I have to say that the 1 series was so much fun to drive with the paddle shifters. Like I said I've never owned an M. My concern is how stiff a ride it's going to be as a daily driver?? I don't know if you are familiar with the ZHP. They were only made for 3 or 4 years and I felt it had a stiff ride but I enjoyed the car very much. Currently I'm driving and M235. It's fast it just doesn't seem to handle as well my 1 series or my Zhp. Ive always wanted to own an M but when I saw the M2, I knew that is the M for me. So any thoughts on the M2 as a daily driver is appreciated. I drive about 12k miles a year. Mostly highway driving. Thanks!

Sorry, just saw this. The M2 will be slightly stiffer than a M235 but its really not stiff. The M2 makes a great daily driver. My GLA 45 AMG is way stiffer then the M2.
