Sorry to hear this issue has reappeared - are any other dealers in the area that you could take it to instead of the one that blamed it on "bad gas"?
I'm sure if i was in your shoes, I'd be just about ready to get medieval on that service mgr...

Not sure about medieval quite yet, maybe just inflict a small flesh wound. Kidding aside, beating up the service manager isn't going to help, he is probably punch drunk already from other customers. Try to work with him and Ralph Nader it at this point and if it drags on too much longer contact BMW NA and get them involved.

haha yeah i agree and i also understand the position that the service manager is in
in all fairness his point was that he would need to see receipts to submit this to prove to BMW Canada there is an issue with the car that needs further examination... im assuming this is so they can get reimbursed for further work, i was totally fine with that explanation... i just did not like how he asked me what gas station i used to fill up with 94 octane, living in toronto and if you are a car guy everyone knows that only petro canada has this gas so thats why i know that he genuinely did not trust me and was testing me thinking that i was just lying and he could catch me lying by tellilng him i got that octane from a gas station that did not sell it |

No really though I don't work for bmw. I'd be fired based on how often I slam them.

update: no trace of anything in the computer of the car however after talking with the shop foreman he was very personable and believed my complaints and later hoisted the car up on the lift and noticed a section of the midpipe that is all blue/purple, he has ordered a new one but it has to be shipped from Germany so it may take a few weeks, it seems that there is some kind of blockage in there...now i am wondering if my cat just blew up but if that happened surely it would throw a code..hmmmm we are both stumped on this.. only time will tell but for the first time i feel like they are now on the right path to finding a solution and i am happy that i have someone smart working on my car..stay tuned

Meet me at the Queenston/Lewiston bridge, I will be happy to drive the car around Buffalo for you for a week and make sure it gets a steady diet of 91 ethanol free (just $3.20 USD when I filled up this am). After the week is up I'll meet you at the border, or better yet Mosport or the Glen if you would rather go to central NY for a little get away and run a 2 day HPDE.
Honestly, I feel your pain. Dealers can be accused of not knowing how to communicate with their customers. (What business can't though in all fairness). I'm going through an issue with my better half's 14 GTI. Just out of warranty, and a cel came on. Brought it to the VW dealer and was charged $90 bucks for them to tell me it has a cracked intake manifold. When I got the car back, I changed the oil (due anyways) it was clear they didn't remove a thing to visually inspect my car, simply ran the code that any VW tech that has been working on TSI motors for more than a month would know the intake is bad. Quoted $900. Called VW (They offered to pay for the part, which is $200). Bah.
