285 Hoosier on 18X10 Apex EC7

Decided to try and shove my old E90 M3 track wheel setup on my M2 to see if it fits. Wheels are Apex EC7, 18x10 square and +25 offset all around. Tires are 285/30/18 Hoosier A6.

The fronts stick out a good bit past the fender and have maybe 2-3mm of clearance to the strut on the inside. I shoved a 4mm piece of cardboard between the tire and shock and it did not fit without forcing it in between. I was pretty shocked they don't rub anywhere so far on the street.

The rears stick out a bunch past the fender as well but my car is stock height and alignment so plenty of travel and clearance and no rubbing on either end. Will be interesting if I lower the car since most people run +33 in the rear instead of +25.

I'll probably put on some 275 slicks that are a good bit skinnier and that should fit in the front for sure after camber plates, still not sure on the rear if I lower the car which is desperately needed.

EDIT: Not sure why some of the pics are sideways, sorry...

Apex EC-7

Appreciate the post. I emailed Apex for fitment of 18" EC-7 with 265/35-18s on the M2 and response was:

"In order to properly run 265 tires all around, you will need to run a small spacer up front in order to clear your suspension. For your M2, we recommend going with 18x10 ET33 all around with 265/35-18 tires. At least a 5mm spacer will be needed up front in order to clear your suspension."

If I read correctly, the 5mm spacer takes care of that narrow fit up front.

Welcome. A 265 street tire will be quite a bit narrower than that 285 Hoosier I used. A 5mm spacer on ET33 would be ET28 which is pretty close to what my wheel is and should leave you enough room on both sides.

I bet you can fit a 275 with +28 on a 18x10. I'm going to test fit 275 on a 18x10 +25 soon.

Ran a few sessions at the track this AM, no rubbing was pretty fun. Time to put on some fresh rubber.

Beautiful M2 OP, appreciate the post. Indeed the 18x10" ET25 is a bit too aggressive for this chassis, especially out back. With that said, the EC-7 18x9.5" ET35 as well as the 18x10" ET33 square fitments are very effective with spacers up front for proper strut clearance.

AlexShop recently outfitted an M2 with a square set of 18x10" ET33 wheels wrapped in 275/35-18 RE-71R's. Ohlins suspension along with AP brakes were also dialed in and the outcome was all business

I agree 18x10 +25 is too aggressive in the back if you are lowered but at stock ride height (4xr4 mode) there was no rubbing or issues even with a 285 R6 which measures nearly 12" section width. In the front there was very little clearance between the tire and strut but it also fit.

I put a 275 Conti GS slick on the same wheels and added camber plates, set camber at -2.75 front -2 rear. With the 275 and additional camber the fronts now tuck in to the fender and the rears are maybe only 3-5mm sticking out past the fender with the +25 offset wheel.

I bet with a 265 it would be flush even with a +25 offset front and rear. The 35 profile of the 275 vs the 30 profile of the 285 makes the wheel gap not look as ridiculous on the stock suspension as well.

Car ran pretty well on this setup. Pulled peak 1.47G, steady state 1.2G.

CosmosMpower Can we get a pic of strut clearance with this setup?

Thanks in advance.

So no rubbing on the square 18x10 ET25 and 275/35/18 rubber?

Clould I get more info on this please? I'd love to match this setup for my M2. It looks sick! I assume front needed a spacer? What size? Was additional chamber needed for the fronts to clear?
