Let us just say they are both great cars and call it quits.

but people should buy whatever car they like, if they like the OG for the sound or for whatever it is then its great, some like the comp for the extra power or the front bumper or whatever. They are definitely both good. I agree that there is tons of bias but I do believe some actually like one or the other for certain reasons. I almost bought an OG, I woulda been as happy as with the comp but I got the comp with way less miles and more warranty for 10k more so it was a no brainer for me. |

I Love How the comp looks and drives but for me sound is very important for the whole package so that was a deal-breaker.
370hp is enough for me, I rather have a good sounding car than a fartcan japsounding BMW https://youtu.be/NGrxp1LilOs?si=WCFgiLkyFSJWterO

My wife prefers the sound of the OG and given her impeccable taste (one look at her husband is proof enough) how can one argue with that? A far bigger issue I have with the comp is that pesky ticking time bomb otherwise known as the "crank hub"...

I guess you haven't read the multitude of threads of the "my car is better than your car" rhetoric that has been written about the various M2 versions for 5+ years. Before that it was the M235i against the M2 OG.

Or maybe he read them with different eyes. We see what we want to see. Discussion is argument to some.

My dad had the OG and I currently daily the M2C. Both are fun in different ways. I have the MP exhaust so the sound factor doesn’t weigh in too much. N55 punches on side streets but M2C getting on the highway makes me sweat
edit: for anyone that says the OG doesn’t sound that great they’re wrong lol |

I have a neighbor that has an OG M2, I owned a M253i for 3 years before moving on to a Comp. They are all exceptional performers and value for what they are. All of them have their drawbacks compared to each other including the CS. We all won. |

As a third party perspective having driven both... outside of power delivery and sound they pretty much feel the same dynamically.
If I didn't already own a S55 then the comp would just barely edge the OG for me. But since I do own a S55, I'd love to own an OG at some point.

Same here, with respect to the sound. Coming from an E46 M3 with a carbon fiber intake and an Eisenmann exhaust, a turbo was never going to be in the same league sound-wise, but that wasn't a consideration. As soon as I started driving the M2C, I was hooked.

When I first got into an OG M2 sound wasn’t a consideration, I hadn't even thought about it
but after 4 years of OGM2 ownership it’s a big part of the experience it’s exhilarating, a rush, and yeh i do like the attention it gets That’s why I really wanted people’s opinions who have actually owned an OGM2 and an S55. It’s very easy for Comp owners to says it’s not important the comp is technically better, but unless you have owned an OG and experienced living with it I don’t think you can appreciate it’s charm. Im now in a comp owner but I’m not sure I’m having as much fun Last edited by timchump; 10-27-2023 at 04:14 PM.. |

For looks or comfort? because the OG seats are better but the comp seats looks better.

If you do some digging you'll find that most consider the OG seats to be more comfortable, and the Comp seats (and seat belts) to be more aesthetically pleasing (as well as being "more" M3/M4). I wanted to like the Comp seats, but every time I've sat in them I've found the OG seat to be more comfortable, and although the Comp seat is better looking that the OG seat, it's ugly as hell compared to the Recaro I can have for the same money. Good thing they were FREE with the Comp! I'm also in the camp of preferring the OG N55's grunt to the Comp's S55 wail. 0-100 sees the cars side by side, but the feeling of driving each is quite different. They remind me a bit of the old STi vs EVO debate. The STi always had more grunt, it was like a motor with a small turbo attached, whereas the EVO was like a turbo with a small motor attached. It's true that a modded S55 car will leave me for dead at over 100 mph, but I rarely even see one of those cars, and I'm even more rarely over 100 mph, and positively rarely racing anyone over 100 mph. For me the more refined feeling (don't ask me to explain it) of the Comp was nice, and the seat belts were great, but they weren't enough to make me choose it over the OG (knowing I'd be replacing the anthracite 2NH with red anyway). I think it's awesome that we can all drive the same cars and come away with different feelings. It's what makes us individual. I give tire advice to people on a daily basis, and it's always a wonder to me why everyone asks me what the "best" tire is, when it's patently obvious that the best tire is the one that suits your needs best. |
