Hopefully C&D gets a hold of a press car and runs their tests like they did with the M4 S1. Dinan_Engineering can you confirm?

wow - thats pretty insane. At that point I buy a porsche. The reason I bought the M2 was for what it costs and the stuff you get (not just power) is an awesome deal. Fun factor with this car is off the charts. i honestly don't see how an extra 75hp or so makes it more fun at even a 10 - $12k price point nevermind something that insane like the quote above. Thats just me though.

Guys there's two different Dinan packages. The S2 and P2 being confused here. Both same hp. S2 includes all the suspension upgrades over the P2 and nearly doubles the installed price. Also some guys on here are quoting cdn currency prices. For me in Canada, 8k for 60-80 hp (depending on fuel I run) is well worth it. Compared to my other motor vehicles that I mod (bikes, quads and sleds) that's cheap cost per hp.

You guys are missing the bus here.

The $10k is only if you get the FULL S2 package that includes all the power stuff along with a full array of suspension stuff too.

If you just want the power, you really just need the turbo and intercooler and tune. With installation included, that would be ~$5,500. For 101 hp / 81 lb/ft that is covered by warranty, I'd say that's a pretty good deal.

You could obviously go with a pure stage 2 and meth and push some bigger numbers for similar money, but it's not covered by warranty, so pick your poison.

Where does Dinan go for their turbo modification?

Do they do it in house or outsource the work?

Outsourced most certainly, not even a good question to ask. BMW don't do compressor wheels themselves.

Though thanks anyway for bringing the topic back to what the turbo kit is, from meaningless discussion on different labor rates from different locations that last pages.

It will be going to C&D. As for what they will do with it exactly is up to them. They usually have some specific angle for a story they wish to do. I wouldn't be surprised if they did an instrumented test though. I half expect it.

This. So many numbers are being thrown around with no context. Some are in canadian dollars (~35% more than USD), mixing of packages (signature vs. power), inclusion of installation costs, etc. For most folks here that are simply looking at power its the cost of turbo, tune, and IC to get the power quoted. Installation cost is installation and is a moot point in my eyes. No matter brand or what have you its a cost that will be incurred. Its just a tertiary cost no matter what you do. You can self install if you like as well, just like with any other product, if desired and eliminate that cost (outside whatever your time and labor means to you).

Outsource. Carbon Fiber, Turbos, and Wheels are the 3 things we do not do in house. We assist in development, engineering, and design but production is handled off-site.

And no, we do not share vendor info. =)

My quote for those who are interested or want to compare....

Turbo, IC, tune, labor, and 6% PA sales tax: $6240

That's a mere $200 more than the Akrapovic titanium exhaust. No brainer for me.

My guess of their instrumented testing of their (DCT?) press car:

0-60: 3.8s
0-100: 8.7s
1/4 mile: 12.0s @ 119 mph

Agree with both posts, I expect it to be neck-n-neck with the M3/4 including the ZCP.

I won't get this done until later this year. I will definitely post my experience when it happens.

Received an email from my local Dinan dealer and my turbo is 2-3 weeks out. Will post initial impressions and follow up here. Anyone received their turbo yet?

The only issue I see to arise here is the syncing the waste gate procedure.

Can you let us know hows its done?
Its a dealer tool function which requires ISTA or like BMW programming equipment. Not a wrench turner so I honestly don't know the step by step procedure and the option there-in. Sorry. This week is just sales and production with no real technical base in the building so there is no one to ask.
That gets me worried. Sound like the re-sync of wastegate must be done by a Dinan dealer? What should I do apparently no dealer is available around?

In addition, a few questions on your new IC, I am surprised there isn't any reviews here that I can find of the similar m235i dual core IC released one year back or so.

With new IC for m2, there aren't much concrete info/details to support the claimed gains, other than the impressive 270% cooling surface thanks to dual core design. If you don't mind, some customers like us would like to know some details or basics:
1) Fin and tube or bar & plate?
2) Effective core volume compared to Stock?

Thanks!

Apparently my dealer already got the parts in so I drop my car off Tuesday morning. I'm getting the intake, turbo, intercooler, and tune. (already have MPE so I didn't want to spend any more than I already am)

We have a few warmer days (~45 F), but then we're forecasted for snow on Saturday and Sunday. I sure hope they finish before Saturday so I can drive home on dry pavement. I don't imagine 460 hp and RWD on MPSS does well in snow.
