car is throwing every error and won't crank
Just replaced my battery. 2018 BMW M2.
Thought the battery would fix it, but it hasn’t. What could have absolutely destroyed itself to cause this? Attached the bimmerlink scans. |

What happened that made you replace the battery or made you think that a new battery would be the fix? Did you register/code the new battery?

Damn that sucks, but I actually have heard of this happening before. Apparently on the F series the power cable and the distribution box in the trunk can short and burn. It's been known to happen on the e series too, I can't remember why but it might be a bad ground or power terminal. So ensure you reassemble it correctly, apparently this happens after people mess with this region.

WOW! Looks like that could have burned up the whole car!! Please keep us posted on what the fix for that is...I think that harness (once it goes through the body) runs all the way to the engine compartment so probably not an easy fix!

Yeah we have zero clue what caused this - all the work done on this car was done professionally. We'll see how much of a bitch this cable/harness is to replace lol

Roshan we need some pics and videos of the car. That thing was a beast when I rode in it before the PS2. Would love to see it in its current state.

Ended up being a super easy fix - that black melted plastic was actually just a part of the retaining clip that holds the positive nipple to the battery positive harness; popped off the burnt part, replaced the clip, and replaced the positive battery cable. Easy fix and car's working fine again
