Perhaps I was thinking of the car they gave the DTM champ. I remember distinctly thinking it was odd that the car was just cosmetic. Anyway I doubt we will see a DTM M2 of any kind because the M2 has no linkage to DTM.

I drove a Cayman S. Loved it! Sound was better than an S55? The torque down low and handling is so much better than the previous generation. The 6MT was brilliant. I also tracked a manual GTS. That sounded even better (different intake/headers) amazing machine, if you can live w/o a backseat/trunk. 718 variants in 6MT are pretty sweet, IMO. |

"After all, the M2 Competition has more power and a more track-focused suspension compared to the previous M2 model"
wait...what? I thought it has been verified that the suspension is exactly the same with the exception of the CF brace up front? Is this what is meant by a more track-focused suspension on the M2C? Not bashing...just curious why so many of the "journalists" seem to get this wrong? |

It is always interesting to see how many discussions on Bimmerpost turn into discussions about Porsches. Then again, you can't fault the Germans for being so great at automotive engineering. For a second there I had to think what we as Americans excel at in the eyes of the rest of the world....but then I remembered it's drinking beer, bbq and American football... MUHRICA!!!

I would only dig the fact that it would allow to get the CF roof, fender, hood etc from factory. Those would be great to have, but not if it's done outside of factory. Of course the price would have to stay within reason. $20-30k would be a deal breaker. |

They going to make only a projected 1,000 units for the US market..
All of them will sell if it has all the carbon pieces installed from the factory, with maybe the MP adjustable coilovers, which we know is going to be the only logical case.. They can't possible do anything else further to improve the F87 chassis beside RnR lighter parts.. |

Im really crossing my fingers for this one. Unfortunately all the fabrication costs for the CF bits will likely get passed on to consumer. +20k over the comp model? Hoping it's more like a 10k premium.

The CS badge on the M3/M4 Comp carries a 45% premium. So you are looking at about ~$85,000 msrp for M2CS. No telling how much for new CSL badge. The GTS was pushing 100% premium at the time. Now take into account the M4 Comp already has a carbon roof, carbon trunk, carbon driveshaft, etc. So essentially the carbon costs were already baked into the cost. Logically thinking one could conclude the M2 CS premium could be even more drastic, if it adds some of the Mperf carbon panels as standard. |

I understand that they will slap all the CF parts on, give it more power and probably add the M performance wheels, then charge for it all and then some. The question is, how much is the "and then some". If it isn't insanely more than the sum off all parts, then it would be a attractive. Chances are it will be too much, which is fine, because there are plenty of other cars I can look at in that price range.

M2CS will definitely be lower than $103k M4CS. Just not anywhere near as low some would like it to be.

I'm going to keep my fingers crossed. I'm still on top of a list for one of these. Delivery in 2020 would work well with my interim leased entertainment.
Shedding close to 150lbs and lowering the center mass should make a noticeable difference in cornering feel even during day to day driving. |
