Let's discuss the BMW "M2 CS" rumor: will there be a hardcore M2 variant 2019/2020 ?

So I have just got back from my local dealer after having the MP steering wheel fitted to my car. Whilst waiting I was having a good chat with the head sales guy about upcoming M2 models, and in particular declared my interest in an M2 CSL should it make it to fruition.

He obviously had no concrete information on whether a CSL would be made but did say an M2 DTM is certainly possible. A few weeks ago he was sent to BMW in Germany for a meeting and whilst there spied what looked like a white M2 DTM on the 4th floor of the building tucked away in the corner behind BMW's latest production models. Nobody was allowed in and phones were taken from everyone prior to entering the building so no photographic evidence could be taken. Nonetheless it was definitely a more aggressive, track focussed variant of the M2 which in his words looked "awesome".

Obviously just speculation but thought I would share...

Interesting, I think it's inevitable BMW will make a more hardcore model and cash in on the demand for one, whether it's called DTM or CSL or ????

There is an M2 Racing in the works ala M235i racing apparently. US only too from what's on this forum.

A few years ago they did a special DTM edition of the M4 to celebrate a championship. It didn't really include any performance improvements it was just graphics and different colors in the interior.

M2 Racing I am sure is likely because the M235i Racing has been very popular, last world challenge race I watched had something like 8 of them. I would love to pick up a used one for a track day car.

BMW will wait 6 month after the release of M2C to announce M2 CSL with all the CF M Performance body parts and price it just $3,000 more than the M2C. watch it happen. lol

Take an M2C slap all the performance parts, ie Roof, Hood, Truck, etc. give a tune and BAM! Your have a CS, or whatever they call it.
