The MPE is a slip-on/axle-back system but so is the Akrapovic by default. They do offer optional link pipes and cat-less down pipes (not road legal) though but that will be 3x the cost of the MPE.

I will go with the full system from Akrapovic, that is why I choose for it

Don't you have yearly inspections with emissions checks where you live?

MPE is rear silencer/backbox only but does have the Bluetooth remote operated valves also which is why I was confused between the two. I have been told that you have to buy the exhaust tips in addition to the MPE - I had hoped/presumed I could go with a regular stainless steel looking exhaust tip, and not have to have titanium or carbon look which adds significant extra cost (can anyone confirm this?).

The Akrapovic system will be great, especially if you are going downpipes back! That must free up a lot of power if done in conjunction with a remap, will sound awesome as well!

Nice, one year longer than us for the first inspection then. So not really an issue then unless you care about the environment!

The fucking idiot that is the minister of transport changed the rules for 2016 - now the monkeys at the MOT stations are instructed to take photos of the car, check for aftermarket parts, chip tuning and other shit.

Either you will bump into an old man who does not give a flying fuck if the chipped TDI Passat gives you cancer by standing behind it or a grumpy fat man who is so jealous of your BMW with expensive Akrapovič pipes and Bilstein coilovers that he will make sure to ruin your day.

We have the same rules too (EU based rules) regarding after market parts but they are usually fine with it unless it is something extreme. Akrapovic and Bilstein coilovers went through without questions.

I want the full system for a better sound track. From the front to the back... Software tune is not is on my list right now. Time will tell what can be done.

Both bilstein and akrapovic products come with certificates of confirmation. So there is not much to fear there. Certain aftermarket stuff from China can give issues.

But where I live pushing some cash across the desk tends to help

Haha! Akrapovic is sold through BMW dealerships in Sweden, they are the only ones in Sweden licensed to sell them so I don't feel that worried about warranties and such either.

I have contacts within Akrapovic and at importers in different countries so let's see what can be done, and how fast I can get it fitted to the car.

Maybe they dynoed the M2 after the install, found out that it gave 396hp (metric) as result and then simply deducted (took away) the official 370hp (metric) value pointing out the 26hp difference ?

If that's the way they calculated the 26hp value, then the claim is flawed if it turns out that the dynoed M2 already showed more than 370hp stock.

Or maybe the mechanic meant +26dB instead of +26hp.

Maybe your dealer comes up with the plan to allow you to permanently "test drive" the dealer demo M2 (HEA) until April 16, 2016. And from that day onwards you become officially the owner ?

Not recommended from an insurance point of view, though. And BMW may dislike it.

Litchfield Cars are the No1 GTR and M car tuning place in the UK.

They claim that an M4 with Akrapovic evolution system makes an extra 10bhp @ 5200 rpm over the standard setup without remapping, plus the increased throttle response etc.

Info here:

http://www.litchfieldimports.co.uk/s...qnzuX1p&uplqec

Interestingly they claim that the M4 slip on exhaust (rear silcer and backbox) makes an extra 7bhp @ 4400 rpm

http://www.litchfieldimports.co.uk/s...fFytAHp&uplqec

I may well be getting these guys to tune my M2 when it arrives

"They" don't claim anything, they have just pasted the info straight from Akrapovic.
