So my car did ship from Halifax, is getting to dealership in the next hour or so.

SA and GM have not gotten any info from BMW on stop order yet - there does not appear to be a way to identify the cars right now...

That's great news... I hope it gets released soon! I still believe the impact on the M2 will be small. I bet no more than 20-25 cars out of the 200 (considering the volume of M3/4/5/6 as a total would be WAY higher).

I'm thinking you should be good to go since we were on the same boat and they let your car leave the autoport while mine is on hold there

Mine was tagged as priority because the car was already sold so it gets moved up the line and shipped (I've done paperwork, etc to beat taxes going up).

Oddly enough, doesn't seem like it got there today, as I haven't heard from my guys.

I am not on the stop order list. Dealerships already have the VIN list, give them a call.

Was on the phone with my GM, pending my work travel, pick up will be Friday or Saturday.

Yeah it's weird that they're holding onto yours even though you did the M Tour - I don't think any of those cars were affected, and if they were, you drove it a lot...

Give Hansen's a call, specifically the Halifax location and ask to talk to the dispatcher - they're super friendly, the staff is awesome and as long as you're brief, they're more then willing to let you know as much as they know.

yes confirmed by Hansen that the vehicle is indeed on hold and waiting to be released by BMW, imo this still does not mean my vehicle is affected it just may still be part of the original hold until they officially sort out the affected cars, will see though

Welp, looks like I drew a short straw. Spoke with my sales manager, and apparently my car is on the affected VIN list. He mentioned that he's got another customer car, an M4 which is stuck at the port for the same recall.

So at least my car is at the dealership, but no ETA for a fix yet.

yes thats what i was wondering, at least your car was let off the ship early enough to make it to the dealership

i can just picture the autoport releasing 100's of BMW's from the port and then as they get to mine a page goes off telling them to leave it there

im going to try and see if they can at least have it shipped to my dealership and have it held there, i dont see why not, its not like they will be shipping them back to munich to have them fixed

I'd have your dealer check on this... as I mentioned in the other thread, if you do not have an affected VIN, another thing could be happening is that sometimes a car will have light damage (say a scuffed bumper for example) from shipping and they hold it to fix it before release. I have seen this happen before. The dealer should be able to find out.

thanks, yeah i left a message earlier this morning, ill give another call in a bit

edit: my sales manager says they are not aware of any hold, i told him the shipping company told me that the car is on hold, he will get back to me

That is an interesting point though - did it affect more DCT vs 6MT? Or maybe even just one or the other? Who knows, the mystery continues. I would love to find out what is actually wrong with the diff's.
