Thanks a bunch - At least I know what the damn part number is now.
No ISTA to find the torque specs, though. :/ I found it strange that realoem doesn't show anything about what you just shared. |

I find bmwfans.info better, better pictures etc. Don't worry about the surface rust. SUPERCOMMON on our cars.

I'm just glad it's only surface level but it seems to be more prevalent around the rear subframe. I'll still get to it anyway at some point.
I have literally now filled the car with boxes of parts, fluids and accessories for a complete overhaul of the cooling system plus a top to bottom brake overhaul front to rear, right down to the bolts. Going to start tearing into it this weekend and figure if I can get a proper mechanical handle on this F87, then the F80 and F82 are fair game. |

Looks like it does the job though. I have to admit the rust doesn’t look very good when you’re under there - I mean the car isn’t even 6 years old. Sure it depends on where you live but still...
Also, F87source - nothing but the good stuff, baby. |

Well, in the end it’s just a car and meant to be used

LOL yes but I'm a cheap bastard and won't pay a Japanese stealership 200% just on parts over DIY to do the cooling system. Poor girl has only driven 100km's in 3 months because of the pump.
That reminds me... I cannot for the life of me find any tutorials or videos anywhere showing someone actually doing the coolant pump and thermo on the F87. I'm thinking the F82/80 are similar but the architecture is totally different from what I can tell because of the S55. If you know of any threads or vids I am all eyes and ears! |

That’s how my subframe looked, a few rusty spots but overall it was black. Changing the bolts is a waste of time, it’s just cosmetic. You will do more harm than good if they brake coming out

Gave the girl her first Shell Helix Ultra 5w40 drink today. 6.5 liters out and then 6.5 of the good stuff back in. New oil filter and air filter in as well. Reset the computer to accept the new change and all is done. Took about an hour and a half all up.
Question: when I did the oil level check it didn’t come back full. I suspect it’s still missing about 500ml ~ 1 liter more oil. Is that normal?? Decided for the coolant pump change, I’d premptively remove the splash shield and chassis braces so I have less to do in the next stage. I’m slightly dreading the coolant pump and thermo change - I can see them right there but there is SO much crap in the way. I figure since I’m doing the upper and lower hoses, expansion tank hose, pulleys and belt as well, I may as well get the fan shroud out and then remove the radiator as well for more clearance. It’s going to be one heck of a job. Wish me luck! |
