Track Video Catchall - The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly...

Figured it would be helpful to have a dedicated track footage & discussion thread - one database that we can all go to easily find track specific videos for any purpose. If you want your video critiqued post it up - the video and subsequent discussion helps us all! If you want to post up a PR - post that up too so that we can all celebrate that with you! And anything and everything in between - that way we can come to this thread, do a quick search, and then easily have access to track specific videos. And for you track rats that have been able to develop good lines on certain tracks - please post those up too! Whenever we go to a new track can be very helpful to have an idea of a good line before going in.

When posting a video please format the first line in this manner so it helps with the search thread function:

TRACK - USERNAME - VEHICLE

Please then add the purpose of the post and a brief mod summary (or maybe link to a build thread). If you post a video be open to criticism - and if you post criticism don't be a d!ck about it. We are all here for the fun of it - lets keep it that way.

MSR CRESSON 1.7 - OG SHARK - M2C

M2C Build Thread/Specs

Couple of laps at MSR Cresson this past weekend. Haven't driven this track much & been a couple of years since the last time so my lines are still a bit rough. Please fire away with any criticism/comments!

How to force things on tires that are done in a stock car with brake pads. This was my first track day in the m2c and the only one before winter ruins everything. Left feeling kinda glad it was over and surprised how much of a handful this thing was lol.

Thanks, yea aside from the tires being done, I also found out that my alignment slipped and the car was running .07 inches in on the passenger rear and .02 out on the drivers rear. Explains so much lol

I had a major problem with this in my old 944 turbo race car. Camber would knock out to -5 or so on the front. Turns out the bolts needed torquing to like 150ft/lbs. Most alignment shops will get them "good n tight" without checking actual torque specs.

Finishing my old RE71R tires, which were pretty much bold at this point. This car definitely wants to come around in slower speed (45-50 mph) corners under trail braking. This video is from the NCC chapter's first HPDE of the season on the Jefferson circuit last weekend.

Nice session, I watched several laps into it. I enjoyed my one day on the Jefferson circuit. I really needed the second day to nail things down but didn't like the lead-follow you had to do at the time.

Not sure why I did it this time around but I got lazy with shifting. Meaning I wouldn't keep two hands on the wheel. Normally during the straights but still.

Hey guys, here's a video from NJMP Thurnderbolt. I know its been posted here already, but I'm very happy with the way I drove and the way the car drove. This isn't the PB of the day, but rather a lap close in time to my PB, but with far better driving from me.

As you can see, there was standing water all over the track, so I couldn't get as wide as I'd like to on some corners. Track was greasy and I kept traction control on the entire time because of it (watch that little yellow light go nuts all the way around the course). I'm sure with better weather, this can easily be a 1:30 lap time!

Enjoy! Please critique if you'd like!

I like the idea of sharing a lap or few for others to comment on. I'll add mine shortly and would welcome feedback, too. For reference, I have been doing HPDEs for the last 4 years in my 2018 M2 and am a Level 2 MSF (Motorsports Safety Foundation) Instructor (but just barely - this will be my first year as a right-seat instructor).

My reactions:
- you appear to be using all of the track
- you have good, quick corrections (correcting oversteer)
- your hands sometimes seem to be moving more than necessary
- you seem to creep in towards corners that are at the end of long straights (i.e., not using all of the track in those spots) - not sure if your trying to rotate the car (with or without trail braking) or if that's just anticipating the upcoming corner too soon
- the track seems like an autocross track compared to what I am used to (perhaps I am spoiled)
- Are you analyzing your data (I see a Solo but assume it's not a DL...)?

Those are my initial reactions after watching your video twice. Would appreciate your response to my reactions and then your reactions to my video(s) that will be upcoming.

Ken

What tires are you running? Quite noisy. Or do all tires squeal like that on those asphalt sections?

I'm on Goodyear F1 Supercar 3. I like them a lot, just ordered a new set. They are not far behind Cup2 in grip, and they last longer.

Slicks are the more quiet on the asphalt, all other tires, particularly 240+ thread wear street type rubber sounds like roasting a live pig.

I also love the supercar 3's I just wore out a set and went with an R compound tire but I also ordered another set of supercar 3s just in case I run into rain. The nt01s in rain are a little frightening to say the least

Not M2, but I have a "hooning" around a track type video in my Camaro. Good times.
