Thanks, just wanted confirmation with all of the MY18 engine speculation that has been talked about in various threads on the forum.

Fixed it for you.
I'm actually expecting DCT only

It's up to you whether or not to be concerned, but I will say that a lot of people were on here claiming that the S55 would be in the new "base/lci" M2 and that doesn't seem to be the case.

The CS will be more expensive and is a slightly different animal. I don't think it will matter all that much.
Why would a current M2 owner be f*cked? I don't see it...? There is coming a newer, more expensive M2 CS...yes if it would be the same price or cheaper then the current "normal" M2 then we (current owners) are a little f*cked in the *ss by BMW... But this will not be the case! It will be more expensive and there will always be a newer car, whatever car you buy....

using this timeline...this gives BMW a boost with an M2 GTS type vehicle three years after the M4 GTS and just around the same time that the F82 M4 ends production...
Why ??. Why do you have to do this ??

If what we're discussing here is not the limited production variant and a 2020 M2 GTS is...then I'll wait.

Any info to back this up, or are you just guessing?

i can't tell if you're joking or not. You think the CS will cost $2000 more then the current car? that's not even close. there's gonna be a $15,000 mark up minimum.

I think what he's getting at is the s55 is an M only motor. The M2 is a variant of the common but great n55. He wants his M's to be pure.

Been on the No 1 spot at my local dealership on the morning they allowed a deposit to be taken for what I thought would be a M2 CSL. If i do get it, I'll drive the piss out of it and put a deposit in for the upcoming/more hardcore version and trade the cs in. If I didn't have the 1M, I'd do that starting with the M2. I have yet to try an M2 but I highly doubt that it will sway me away from my 1M. Just like my favorite son, the 1M will always have a spot in the garage

Still feel they should keep the variants down. An M should be the best they have to offer for for public consumption and have only one limited special (track focused) hardcore edition above the M. Charge a crap load more and test out new technologies. M sounds a lot like the S-line from Audi nowadays.

And please please please don't embarrass yourself like the M4 gts did. The GTS is like the millennial rich entitled kid that went to the best schools but can't perform in the real world. A preppy kid that got an earring and barb wire arm tats to look hard.

$2k?? Where did you get that number from??? M2 base is currently $51,700. Subtract that from $56,900 and you get +$5,200. I still think it will be DCT only so $59,900.

And $15k markup??? I can't tell if YOU'RE joking. No way the M2 CS would cost more than a M3/4. M3/4 has more power, size, and luxury even after the CS improvements. Totally different class and target market.

This isn't a GTS/CSL, buddy. Think logically.

You guys (and girls) are missing the easiest way to determine if there's going to be a badder version of the M2 CS - follow the money.

Remember how the residual values on the M2 leases were a lot lower than most other cars in the lineup? BMW financial had to know that by the time those leases were up, their value was going to be lower than normal because they would no longer be at the top of the 2 series food chain.

We obviously won't know the residuals until the CS is released, but look at the numbers the accountants assign to the car. BMW isn't in the business of losing money.

Doubtful that was the reason. Lease residuals are actually rising recently as more understanding of the market. So no, they didn't have "to know their value would be lower". Sometimes they get it wrong and have residuals too high, in fact. BMW tends to play it conservative with new models.

I definitely could be wrong but that was my first impression. Why else would they have priced M2 residuals lower than the 235/240?
