M2 CS vs. M4 ZCP Pricing

Don't know why a M2 CS should cost more than a M4 Competition Package.

If the base M2 gets the S55(which im guessing very likely) it will crater the resale of the current M2. If you worry about that kind of thing
The GTS has water injection among other things. It isn't the same engine per se.

That being said, the m2 cs is not getting a stock s55, it's going to be detuned a bit. so no i don't think it logical at all for the regular m2 to get an s55 to be...? what? detuned even more? doesn't make sense to me at all.

Also, the CS wont crater the resale of the current m2 as the "regular" m2 will be sought after for the cheaper price point and the manual transmission option (as im sure the cs will be DCT only).

Current m2 owners (who bought their cars for MSRP) will be fine and are not getting fucked over, contrary to popular believe.

Very nice! Hopefully it won't be a limited production or anything like.

As bad as it sounds I don't miss the M5, M2 makes me smile just as much!
isn't the s55 a twin turbo though?

Yes. Frankly, I have no idea why someone would even think of that possibility. Have you not noticed how many years N54 had been in production before 1M got it, or the same for N55 and M2?

Good point on DCT. Time will tell. Reading the tea leaves I think all the M2 will get the S55. Detuning a turbo engine is just turning down the boost(or can be).

I agree a M2 at MSRP is still a killer deal assuming you can find one LOL.

IF the regular M2 keeps the N5X engine the M2 CS will be so rare it wont matter. The M2 is so rare it almost might not exist lol

S55 engine is 212Kg, N54 engine is 195kg. Can't find N55 engine weight but according to this
http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showp...7&postcount=11
N54 is 4kg heavier than N55

So the S55 is 20 kg heavier than N55??

Way too many levels of M's in each platform. Need to go back to the old days and just stick to one M in their level. Its more special that way. Keep it up and there will be 10 different M levels in its class.

How will this effect production numbers of the M2? If the CS is build on the same production line you might think Standard M2 full year production totals will drop !

I'm 2nd at my dealer...supposedly. I'm guessing they could always change their minds. I have a backup deposit at 3rd elsewhere if that happens or if they try that ADM crap.

LOL.

I personally don't care, but aftermarket exhausts seem to be a Big Deal (tm) these days.
Last gasp of "car douche mating call" before the nearly silent all-electric era arrives in full force.

I'm predicting $56,900 base.

If it's DCT only, $59,900 base.

*not including D&H (so +$995)

Note that Europe operates on calendar years (most recent example: G30 5 series is listed as "5er (2016)" on bmw.de), and therefore a lot of news articles originating in Europe also use calendar years when talking about future cars. US readers need to pay attention to this and adjust +1 where necessary.
M2 is MY 2016 in calendar year 2016
M3 LCI is MY 2016
M4 GTS is MY 2016 - in calendar year 2016
M4 LCI is MY 2017
M2 LCI is MY2018, coming in calendar year 2017.
M2 CS is MY2019, coming in calendar year 2018.
M3 F80 End of production - 10/18
M2 GTS is MY 2020 ?? coming in 2019 ? abject speculation
F82 M4 End of Production - 06/20

using this timeline...this gives BMW a boost with an M2 GTS type vehicle three years after the M4 GTS and just around the same time that the F82 M4 ends production...
