I've been all over rennlist. There are articles based on those pictures and some more pictures with the new GT4 doing winter testing.

Not sure if the next GT4 is going to be NA or FI. Really hoping that we get another naturally aspirated GT4 with a manual transmission priced around the 90K USD mark.

If the GT4 goes to a turbo 4 cylinder, I will be praying everyday for an M2 GTS similar to the E46 M3 CSL.

This is what I’m hoping for - might be the best car they’ve ever built.

Having owned a 981 Spyder, since sold it (regrets, shut up WAY!) it may have been one of their best. A 718 Spyder with the 4.0 n/a would be be awesome. Imagine the first GT engined Porsche car, topless, priceless!

Guess you can mark this one off your list. You only have 16 other threads to look at.

Well that car doesn't exist, and the rumors have been discussed ad nauseam, so...on to things that at least have a track record of being built.

The GT4 won't be $90k USD if it's a 6 cylinder engine, sadly. The previous one had a base price of $85k, sold almost instantly, and the entire 718 line is priced higher now. Plus the GT3 9A1 derived engine costs more than the standard 3.8 from the 991 Carrera S.

Just look at the %age increase in price on the whole 718 coupe line up. Then go back and look at the increase in price for the 991.2 GT3 compared to the 991.1 GT3.

Factor in that the 718 will not be as limited or as exclusive as the 981 GT4 and I think a sub 95k starting price is very realistic with the spyder being closer to 100k.

Hey, M2 Competition will be less than M2 currently so it’s possible. 😉

Seriously... I don't know how one steps from a $52-55k M2 on up to a $95k cayman.

I mean really .. that's like two used M2. One for the weekdays and one to make a track car out of. And the mod money for the track car is in the options list for the cayman cuz you won't be buying a stripper 718 GT4.

If I end up buying a 718 GT4, it will be stripper and I will only buy a 718 GT4 if it comes with a NA engine.

Up till 20 months ago, I used to love turbos because of the rapid acceleration once they kicked in. The first NA engine car (Older Carrera) I drove was about 20 months ago. The throttle response and the sound is what did it for me. When you combine that with the manual transmission, it's just perfect.

I drove the 981 GT4 (about a year ago) a few times and not very long but it just felt like nothing else that I had driven or driven since. Even the shift knob feels taught and the throws are like butter with that "Thubb" sounding feel to it.

Since then, I've driven an older turbo, a 991.1 GT3, an M4 GTS and GT350. Nothing's felt as nice and as complete as the GT4.

I really think that NA motors and manual transmission cars will not be made for much longer. If the price of the GT4 starts at under 95K USD, I think it would really be worth stretching a little bit.

If the M2 gets a GTS, it would be around the same price anyways.

The first time you drove a naturally aspirated car was 20 months ago ? Seriously?!

I meant excluding 4 cylinder engines and my 2004 325i which I think had just 190 hp.

What I meant was a proper high revving NA engine.

Because people will go outside their relative comfort zone for something special (to them)?

My 981 and F80 were within a couple grand of each other - what's 12-15 more, especially if you're financing for 5 years? The difference is a few hundred dollars a month, which I wouldn't expect to be the limiting factor for someone looking at an almost 100K car.

I also crossed shopped the M2 (as a rumored car) to my eventual 981, price be damned. It was more about size, RWD, and performance first, if that makes sense - the price comes into play when you're considering the more subjective aspects of the purchase (such as interior quality ).

You and I are in similar places - I am thinking a 991.1 GTS, 981 GTS, or (if I am lucky) or a 718 GT4 would be the cars that would be the "keepers" and change my habit of car flipping.

outside a comfort zone is splurging 20%.. hell even 50 percent.. more... When you start talking 70, 80,,100% more than what you originally intended.. that's baller status..

Hey hon.. let's look at homes.. what range... ? how about.. $500K... And then you go out and spend $900K... that's baller status..not stretching a comfort zone.. or a foreclosure waiting to happen..

LOL...you can be such a Richard sometimes. but well-played my friend.

The RS3 wouldn't serve as keeper status...but it might resolve my current, relative boredom with the F80.

Except the scale on the house side is SO much larger that it's not a good example - all I am saying is that if you're willing to spend a certain amount on an M2 (which is not 52K, please show me one that I can buy today at that price!), then you could be in a situation where (over 5 years), a more expensive car isn't that big of a financial hit.

It's all about how you want to spend what you've got.
