The engine is a bit disappointing given that there is already a 195hp I5 diesel available for the standard Ranger. It seems to me that, starting with that engine as basis for a new high performance diesel would have made a bigger impact.
If they decide to do a gasoline version of this truck for the North America market and wherever else there may be demand, their 2.7L V6 turbocharged V6 would be seem to be a good place to start. Figure 360hp or so - basically an F150 Raptor engine scaled down by 20% in displacement and power output. |

I guess the engine is kind of competitive with the 3.0 in the Amarok... I guess?
157kW/500Nm still has to be a slow go in something that weighs near on two tonnes. This with the F150's newly announced diesel though... |

I’m a self-admitting European snob but, the full-sized Raptor has been on my mind for weeks. If this thing has the same road presence as the OG, i might consider. Needs more HP though.

So my MB 250 GLK Bluetec has a 2 litre diesel which has the same HP and torque, is this more parts swapping between manufacturers? And FWIW, I like the engine, it gets great fuel economy and pulls well.

Torque under the curve with a good transmission and I'm sure it'll be a fun truck. Modern turbos spool pretty fast and if done correctly, I'm sure it would be good, although GM would theoretically have more mod potential with more displacement.

I'd like it better if it had the regular 3.5 ecoboost (not the big Raptor ecoboost). Looks nice though. I think I'd still get a v6 ZR2.

In a perfect world they'll offer a (Mustang derived) 5.0L V8 Ranger Raptor alongside the 7.0L V8 F150 Raptor to offer the ultimate mid & full-size off road performance trucks on the market. One can dream... would hate to see the dealership markups though Regarding the Ranger Raptor in the US, the Colorado ZR2 already took down the Tacoma TRD as most desirable mid-size off road truck, I'm sure Ford is dying to dethrone the Bowtie! I love the ZR2 diesel, but fingers crossed they bring the Ranger Raptor here.

210 seems modest. How much torque? So assuming it can run on biodiesel, is this better for performance than petroleum diesel or just cleaner? Looking forward to the electric raptor with loads of torque.
