scrape armor, anyone see one before?
Anyone every used this product? Looks like you need to drill the bumper so it's a no go for me, but I did see they have an M2 application.

I see several problems with this
1. You can see these things on the bottom of your bumper and they look ugly/dumb 2. This actually makes your car more prone to scraping since it creates less space between the ground and the bumper 3. You have to drill. Is this a joke? I'd much rather scrape up the bottom of the car than drill holes into it 4. Interferes with PPF/Wrap/Front Lip |

1 on the list is what I was curious about, I am not sure what you can see. I can live with number 2 but Number 3 is a kill shot for sure.

This looked like a good idea initially. However, I agree that once you have to drill into the bottom lip, it distorts it anyway. It's just a piece of material that gets scraped instead of your bottom lip, and essentially becomes part of your bottom lip once you screw it in.
The question I have is, how much this stuff can withstand vs. the regular bottom portion of the car. My driveway has a incline and I occasionally scrape my cars if I'm not careful. Last edited by qnet; 02-18-2018 at 01:45 PM.. |

Interesting - too bad you have to drill into the bumper (is that confirmed?). RPI skid plates (which don't require drilling) have saved the "fangs" on my Z4M coupe on several occasions.

I don't see the point. You are trading occasionally or possible scraping the bottom of your bumper cover for a higher chance of scraping this additional part that becomes part of your bumper cover. The only benefit I can see is if your car comes with CF front lip and you were trying to prevent cracking or if it's an exotic car where a cracked bumper cover would be a major cost. I still think the ultimate solution is to simply be careful when going over ramps or curbs.

1. You can barely see them and really only if you're looking for them. I think they look kind of neat. IMO they look a whole lot better than some of the do-nothing lips that people seem so enamored with. 2. They're probably 1/4"-3/8" thick. I actually haven't scraped once since I've gotten them installed. In practice I don't think they make much difference in the likelihood of scraping. 3. I didn't do the install myself but several factory holes are evidently used so only a few new holes need to be drilled. I'd personally rather have a couple of neatly-drilled holes that can always be plugged vs. a chewed-up bumper cover, but to each his own. 4. It doesn't interfere with the PPF on my car. I (obviously) don't have a lip but you couldn't have a lip and Scrape Armor at the same time. Last edited by kfscoll; 05-24-2019 at 08:54 AM.. |

It's pretty heavy-duty stuff. If anyone rode skateboards back in the late 80's, it's very much like the skid plates (i.e. "tail bones") that you'd put on the kick tail of your deck. I'll take a picture when I get a chance - my car's at the dealer right now getting my wheels fixed from where they dicked them up while balancing my new tires. |

On the website it says 2017 - 19 M2. I'm guessing since it's in three pieces it should still fit the M2C. The design of the M2C front is slightly different, but from my understanding the dimensions are the same as the OG M2.

I've taped carbon film on my last car just under the leading edge.
Worked very well.
