It’s worth every penny. Many more pennies than the M (value based) experience for sure...but truly worth it.

Wel, that depends on perception IMHO.

I used to own a 981 CGTS, yes fabulous car in every aspect but one; the steering.

I can tell you that my previous 1M, my current M2, do steer better, more initial steering input. I know it sounds weird, some do not believe me because a Porsche must be better than the Bimmers, mostly that is true, but not on compared steering feel.
The CGTS steering has to much self centering force to it, it jus wants to go the middle, when high speed cornering I always had the feeling I had to fight the steering wheel, not to my liking I can tel.
The CGTS came on slowly on initial steering input, so you move the wheel further and faster for action, with the annoying effect that it came on to strong, it has a feeling of non-linearity to the steering to me.

I have driven the 981GT4 afterwards, that steering is much better IMO.

I remember.

I had the 981 CS, not even the GTS, and the steering was one of the best aspects of the car, from my perspective anyway. Funny how different we can all be.

I find the F80 ZCP to be more vague for sure...not bad, just not as good to me.

I`m sorry I`ve brought it up again, it`s just I`m still a little frustrated about it, as I did like/love the car in every aspect but the steering

Maybe you had the power steering plus option? Many 981 Cayman/Boxster users were disabling this at the dealer cause it made the steering non linear especially at lower to medium speeds.
I drove a 981CS on track and never had any issues with steering response.

I love the steering in my 981 Cayman base.. much better, IMO, than my f80. I don't have enough seat time in an M2 to really compare but I didn't mind the M2 steering for the little bit I got to drive it.

I think this is one place where VAG has a good drip on things - my mom got a new GTI this weekend, and the steering is very nice and extremely quick. I was really impressed.

That's good to hear since my 2013 B8.5 S4's steering was not good at all - but I think that was their first year switching over to EPS.

I loved that car - it was one of the first Audi options that I considered moving over for.

The M2 has a very fast steering, initial steering input is very quick/direct, my 981CGTS was much more slower on that aspect, it felt completely different, and not in it`s favor I dare to say.

Would be awesome if this would be the case... When are they going to introduce the new GT4?

Hope it's going to be a two year run until 2021 with the new GT4 so I can snatch one up at the end of it's production.
it's going to be glorious with that F6 4.0L right behind your back

Own both. Love both. They are extremely different. I still think m2 is by far the best value for the money. It’s incredibly fun to drive, turns tons of heads and is comfortable enough to DD. Gt4 feels more serious. It handles incredibly well but lack of front axle lift and heavy clutch means not DD friendly/practical. The engine friggin screams when you get up in revs and the downshifts make people stop in their tracks as if it’s a super car lol. On most of my days I actually choose and prefer the m2. The gt4 is incredible but it takes effort to drive and can be exhausting.

Also, I’m laughing at how many people think they will be able to walk into Porsche with a deposit and get allocation for a new GT car. They choose current customers first, and that is also dependant on which cars/how much you’ve spent with them. As a current GT4 owner even I am uncertain if I will secure allocation for the 718 lmao.

For me personally; it is good news that the 718 GT4 is a 4.0L NA engine... This GT4 is going to be awesome...but 90% sure I'm not going to buy this. When the new 718 GT4 is launched, the used prices of the old 981 GT4 will drop more and this is something I find interesting.

For the right price; at one point I would maybe buy a used GT4 clubsport and sell my Z4M. The right price for me is under 80.000euro (93.000 USD). They are already dropping in value from last year and the launch of another NA GT4 (with even a more powerful 4.0L engine) will stimulate prices to go even lower of used 981 GT4's. If the new 718 GT4 would be turbocharged...then this would definitely not be the case and then the 981 GT4 would maybe go up in used value.

My personal perfect two car garage (that I can actually afford to buy and run) would be my Turbocharged M2 and a NA 981 GT4... So maybe one day in 2019 this wil be the case

Well maybe in UK, Canada & USA. In EU there is no problem in getting allocations. I was offered a 991.2 GT3 6 months ago without ever owning a P car before.
