Thanks all.

FYI: the black and grey M Performance mats are not winter mats per se as they are made of a type of heavy-duty fabric (not fully rubber).

I think on my 228i they bundled a bunch of things into a line-item on the agreement, when I took delivery they had given me the winter mats, BMW air freshener, travel mug, keyrings, etc. If they're providing winter mats then they are almost certainly going to be the OEM mats but whether they're the "Performance Winter Mats" (i.e. gray & black - https://www.getbmwparts.com/partloca...gid=4462&tab=2) or the plainer black rubber mats is probably a question for your SA to clarify.

When I finalize my M2 I'll try to avoid these add-ons, I may keep my current mats from my 228i or get different mats.

I got my winter mats free of charge, YMMv

Thank you guys. Too sad that I am currently on an aeroplane waiting to take off. I am going on a 5 weeks trip to Asia. By the time I come back, there will be snow, sand and salt all over the road here. The car didn't even get its PPF since the dealer had to rush my PDI in order to let me take delivery before I get off.

I think I saw you on Oxford west other night going along. I had EB 228i...awaiting an m2 allocation currently.
Yeah that was probably me. Do you have a sense for when yours will be delivered??

Congrats!

Looking forward to your thoughts about moving from a 135i to the M2 - as that is the same leap I am taking (hopefully within a few weeks as soon as it finds a ship and gets here).

Has anyone received this letter in the mail yet? All MY16 M2's will need to have these replaced.

This seems like way more serious an issue than the rear diff, see the highlighted paragraphs. Also interesting they mention the noises at the back, which I know some folks who had the rear diff replaced are still hearing.

FYI, they are not the same bolts as the rear diff set, these are different.

Have to admit, what a shitshow they have on their hands with this car, seems like nothing was done right at the factory.

Sorry to hear. Nothing on my side yet.

I just checked also mybmw.ca and no recalls on my car neither yet.

What my guys told me is that the MY17's pre-Apple CarPlay may be affected (ie. July builds mostly).

Either way, it sucks At least the service will get done when the winter tires go on haha

I think this is linked with the differential replacement, if the bolts were re-used instead of replaced.

I hope you are not right because my car will soon go into winterization mode in a garage in the next 2 weeks!!!

Unfortunately it isn't. Talked to my guys extensively, it's a different set of bolts, unrelated to the diff. When I go in for my service I'll snap some photos to show comparison.

It's on the body frame - worst case scenario (get ready) your entire rear axle falls out. Best case only one side does. It's nuts.

I would not believe your guy, sorry.
This recall is the same as it appeared in September 2016-438.
They were supposed to change your bolts and they did not. I am sorry for you
