Not true, I was pulled over in Redmond, WA and cited only for “no front license plate” on my 335i a few years ago while I was at a intersection light facing a police car.

The officer told me if I submit a picture to him via email with the plate properly installed, he would wave the ticket - talk about a power trip… Ask me if that stopped me from having no front plate on my BMWs since.

Hmm. After doing some research I have to agree with you. I was told by a Seattle officer that it was a secondary offense but it seems that he was mistaken. It is a fixit ticket as your officer said.

Other than looks, how are the M2C mirrors functionally different from the OG mirrors?

They aren’t. But M specific mirrors being missing from the OG is a big deal.

I really like the stalk on the OG mirror, and the smaller housing of the AutoID housing, but I agree that the M2C mirror is an upgrade overall, and massively over the stock unit.

I thought the really big deal would be the "missing" S55?

To many the S55 is rather happily "missing."

End of the day is personal preference. Had an F80 and it was cool, but I clicked with the N55 in the M2 and traded the F80 in same day. Definitely a gem

Those look sweet! M2C mirror are the same as F80 M3/M4 mirrors...or at least the F80 M4 mirror I installed on my OG M2 fit and function perfectly so I'm hoping there wasn't a premium for a 'retrofit kit'?

I certainly don't miss the S55, the only thing I'd like from the M2C is the Front PDC. There an old thread about someone retrofitting the front PDC but they never completed the mod or if they did, they didn't update the thread...

Same mirror, it's just a package they put together. I paid $1709 for the kit with primered caps because I got a deal on the carbon ones. I think it was a pretty good deal (black friday sale).

My issue is that none of the instructions are detailed enough for me. Do you remember your order of operations?

I wear the stock mirrors on my OG as a point of pride.

I don’t like the replica options, don’t want to look like the lames with replica mirrors on a 330i, and retrofitting the M2C mirror goes against the idea of going too far making a OG a M2C for me. To each their own though.

Love my OG, but I’ll eventually just grow into a Comp or CS and migrate the good bits and bobs like wheels and suspension over.

I agree, $855 is a pretty good deal, especially if that includes the glass.

Job # 1 is wrapping the mirror with a towel and securing it with tape.

You don’t need access from the outside and the mirror assembly has some weight to it and it is not balanced so save yourself the heartache of it falling and damaging your door.

Not sure this will be much help as it has been some time but if I remember correctly:

1) I removed the door card
2) I removed the tweeter cover, the tweeter, and the foam.
3) There are 3 bolts (Torq’s?) holding it, and of course the wiring loom. One of the bolts is behind the rubber liner.
4) Disconnect the wiring connector
5) Loosen all the bolts.
6) If doing the job on your own, remove two of the bolts and then support the mirror while removing the last bolt.
7) Install is the reverse but tighten the bolts like you would a wheel, each one a little at a time.
8) Know that when they fold, they don’t fold as much as the original mirrors.

I did the job tonight without seeing this. I'm about to post a step by step in the main thread on it. I didn't do this wheel part, but it sounds like a good thing to do.

Thanks for taking the time bro!

Installing OG Shark Motorsports Nitron R1 today and cleaning up and selling the TC Kline kit that’s on it. Pics and a small write up comparison to come.

After weighing everything it looks like I’ll be shaving a little over 3lb a corner in unsprung weight.

I was filling my tires at a gas station and spotted a Toronto red G87 M2 Carbon at the BMW dealership across. Not bad in person. I like how wide the fenders come out. Hard to get into those carbon bucket seats. No, I didn't leave my F87 w/ them.

Agree that the carbon bucket seats are hard to get into (and to get out of) but once you are in, they sure are comfortable!

On a scale of 1 to screwed...

Went to overhaul the front brake assembly, nut and bolt today... and then the retaining screws on the front rotors rounded on me. I could not get those little bastards loose and now I have a bigger problem. WHY BMW... why did you have to put T W O of them there for each rotor??

I have new rotors, lines, pads and all associated hardware and... I have new hubs.

Am I correct in thinking that to hell with this drilling and whatever else and just crack the four main bolts from the hub carrier out and the whole assembly will just fall off?

Wouldn't that be the easiest solution in my situation?? I'm not reusing anything that is currently on there at all, right down to the brake shield bolts.
