Tire Pressure (opinions)
Anyone else feel that the cold pressure of 35psi/35psi is a tad to firm for daily driving?

No.
I also use 35 to 36 as my target hot pressure at the track. Above that and the tires feel oily and start to squirm.

I went down to 33psi cold and the difference was night and day. I also found the TPMS to be 1 psi off from my Longacre digital pressure gauge.

This thread prompted me to check my tire pressure. Good thing I did as it was around 43psi cold as delivered a few weeks ago. I guess I was too excited to check until now ... Took it down to 35 and did a reset. Tpms says 34. Close enough. So those that just got your cars, double check your tires as it looks like they are overinflated at the factory.

Tire pressures are engineered, they are not really something to mess with for day to day driving in my opinion. I am sure you can soften the car by bringing down the tire pressures a bit but the car isn't designed for softer tires so it kind of defeats the purpose of all of that great work done by BMW to tune this suspension. I have actually been pleasently surprised with how forgiving the ride has been on abrupt surface changes and pot holes. Yes you feel them but it is less jarring than my old 3 series was with run flats.

I agree tracking and high speed are different circumstances but I believe your question was about the pressures for regular daily driving. For example the manual recommends different pressures for prolonged driving at high speeds, I believe over 105 mph. Also the M Performance School runs different pressures on their tires as would be expected because those tires are generating tremendous heat compared to that of a regular driving situation.

Correct, over 100mph: 39/42psi
..but these pressures are also stated for a fully loaded car (4 passengers + luggage) I'll stick with 33/33psi.

I have to admit that I totally didn't pay attention to the 4 people and luggage, you would think they would just state that rather than using symbols.

I have found it interesting that the tire pressures on the door for cars with Conti's is different than those with PSS. For the Conti cars it calls for 35 psi all the way around.

I have PSS, and it as the image above illustrates - 35psi all around.

Seems that the last deliveries of the M2 have a pressure sticker inside with indications for 255-35-18. Mine just mentions a square 235-40-18. Anyone who can check this for me?

As the weather got colder my tire pressures went down to 24psi (within a week from delivery) and this disabled Sport and Sport+, FYI. I was stuck in comfort mode running an errand (oh, the humanity).
I pumped up to 37psi for my 480 mile trip home for Christmas. |

37PSI on Summer Tires? Why so much?
