protective film on bumper standard?
Just noticed that my front bumper and rear bumper has a protective film on it. Is this standard from factory?
starting this thread as I can't edit the title in my other thread. dealer is saying it's from factory but they don't seem too sure .... also, the odometer and trip computer are off by 6 miles. odo says 10, trip says 16 .... they reset? |

Trip meter being higher than odometer at delivery has been reported in other threads before - seems odd but it's not uncommon. It will never appear that way again once you reset it.

yes PPF, I see the rear guard ones. just surprised to see the front and rear bumper ones. they look like they are precut films on the bumpers because I can see the same cut out shapes at the edges on both sides

congrats and enjoy your new car. ill be in your neck of the woods on saturday, GMR
i cant sleep so i went and checked my 2017 and maybe as you say its hard to see in your photo but if youre talking about that line right near the lip, mine has that too. its not PPF but just the way the plastic piece that makes up that area of the body was joined in the mold or w/e |

Agree with above, if you are talking about that dark line just over the lip it doesn't look like the edge of ppf, it looks more like its indented, any more pics?

Where would you folks that have owned the M2 for a bit suggest paint protection film be applied. Here’s what I have in mind:
- front bumper full - partial hood / fenders - mirrors - door cups - rear quarter (those awesome hips) - rear bumper where it meets trunk - rocker panels I’m contemplating getting the full fender / bumper and a portion behind the rear wheels on the rear bumper. I want max protection without breaking the bank or wrapping essentially the entire car with PPF! S |

I think you and greasy peanut might be right. I looked again and it doesn't seem to be PPF. More pics

At least:
entirety of the hood, both front fenders, front bumper cover, headlights, mirror covers, a pillars and leading edge of the roofline If you can afford add: rear rock guards, and luggage strip, and door cups I am doing the first group |

GMR is fun. I wouldn't worry too much about being break in period there, there is still plenty of fun to be had. It's very twisty and doesn't have too many straights to push the engine compared to the other canyon roads in so cal. Also a lot of cyclists and motorcyclists use that road too, so I personally don't drive hard there. There's a few a blind corners. The photos you can get from parking along one of the many turn outs are worth the drive though.

Expanding the stock film on the hips is another one if I could go back I would have pursued. These cars will have some hip chips in the future . I have a few as well already . But I like them kinda . (I have AW, so they aren’t visible . But when I’m hand washing I see them ) |
