New ASD control unit as of Match 1st

Anyone know anything about this? On RealOEM it says it is not exchangeable. Think this means it is completely new and will not work with previous systems.
Maybe they are updating the sound to work with the new engine?
I find it interesting that they would change a part half way though a model year.

Do you have any references to it?

Just a new part number as of 3-1-2018. and the statement that it will not fit older builds...

There was a lot of research put into the challenges of cancelling out the native sounds from a farting engine. It is very important, going forward with the competition model, that spouses and other potential passengers not interpret the sounds that they hear as passed flatus coming from the driver. This could damage future sales, and BMW will have none of it.

This is simply an updating of the classic Descartes quotation, “Cogito, ergo sum.”

The new meaning is, "I fart, therefore I am."

I think you are on to something. "Special noise cancellation" so interior "noises" don't compete with the exhaust noise....

This is easy

First R&T says the M2 is one of the worst sounding cars
https://www.roadandtrack.com/new-car...-cars/?slide=5

Notice that is from FEBRUARY.

Now, in March they say it is one of the best
https://www.roadandtrack.com/new-car...inder-engines/

Easy peasy -
