M2 MPE Second Hand: What to look out for?
I'm getting my 17 delivered next week from a dealer w MPE. The dealer contacted the previous owner who said the MPE was added after delivery, installed at a BMW dealer.
I'm reading about the MPE bluetooth issues. And having a history w MPE's they have cracking issues, etc. My understanding is MPE has a 2 year BMW factory warranty, that's it. Bottom line: if I have any issues w my MPE will BMW look up the purchase? Or do I need to get receipts? I've asked through the dealer to get receipts, install info, where purchased, etc. And he says he's trying, but not getting anything back at this point. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.

Just a tip, I learned thru my M4 MPE cluster fuck. BMW denied warranty on my cracking MPE. The exhaust needs to be either of the following.
Port installed, installed at a dealer listed to your VIN or you have a receipt showing you as the original purchaser and if you installed yourself that your installation of it did not lead to the failure. Example, I bought a M4 lease trade in that was still under warranty, had the MPE already on it but since there was not a record of it being installed on that car and i had no receipt showing I purchased it BMW NA denied my warranty no matter how hard i fought. Now i know others got it pushed thru somehow but I failed.... a total PITA Not trying to scare you just be informed |

Good tip. This was my experience as well w a E92 M2 MPE.
At a minimum, I need to get the name of the dealer where installed Ensure there is a record of the install at that dealer Call the dealer to confirm If they cannot provide this I will end up negotiating more $$$ of the car since they told me it was done at the dealer.

M3/M4 are more prone to cracks because they are titanium? (Titanium welding is hard)

Turns out the MPE was ordered brand new on the car. So its on the build sheet. My buddy at the dealer then told me its under warranty. Pretty happy w that.
The downside is I think the BMW warranty is only 2 years on M perf parts. But I do have a year to address any issues that do arise.
