The newly dubbed "peanut" grille looks bad on new M5 too when all black and surrounds become indistinguishable from the slats.

Giving up good looking kidneys on a BMW for a camera was a foolish choice IMHO.
I think this looks pretty nice actually, but I respect your opinion.

I'm with you. I think the new M5 looks great, and those frozen colors make me want to write a bunch of bad checks.

It does. Must've not fully read my post. I have posted elsewhere that it looks fine with the chrome-lined surrounds. However, the all black kidneys are what look bad due to the 1-piece "peanut" effect from having that silly black camera panel in the middle. Maybe IND will come out with body painted camera panels, but in stock form I maintain it does not look great on M5 or in the M2 CS teaser pics.

All the color cosmetic stuff is an easy fix for a powder coating shop or a good body shop. Im not the slightest worried about any of that. As long as the body lines etc look good, the other stuff is an easy remedy.

IND is great, and this isnt a knock on them, but you dont need them to fix these types of issues. I had all the reflectors on my M2 color matched for 45.00 at the shop I use. Perfect match, perfect work. I took them out myself and installed myself. At IND the same job is over $200 I believe and you still do the work or pay for someone else.

Looks like SCOTT26 is correct that the launch color is hockenheim silver.

Hockenheim Silver Metallic (BMW paint code C33) popped up in the BMW system in May 2017:

I think Silverstone is being replaced with Hockenheim Silver on the next production block update.

I don't recall having seen it in person (it's code C33 and was added to the database in May). It will be shown soon with plenty of time to decide before it's available to order. So far the only F90's I've been around were BSM, Rhodonite Silver, Marina Bay Blue (Film Car with Comp Pkg), Alpine White, and the new Frozen color teased recently.
The HS name leaked at Bimmerpost in August 2017:

The 360° view now gives us the best look of the M side mirrors to date.

I must have missed that. I don't recall seeing them that clearly before. Thanks

The color has not debut yet on any car so no one really knows. You're in luck however, I made these couple of different shades in Photoshop of what Hockenheim Silver - C33 "might" look like several weeks back and completely forgot all about it. No idea how close this is to the real color, but it's likely in the neighborhood.

136 cars built and shipped and not a single leak yet??

Come on workers at the ports! Take some photos! I remember one worker took a photo of a bill of lading sheet for the M2 in 2015.

Some photos did leak. Apparently, even a video leaked. However, the people that these leak to usually do not leak it to the public since it could garner a lot of unwanted attention.

Don't confuse 'scheduled' with 'built and shipped'.

Has the type code changed on US cars? It pulled "2U7C" for me, not "2U73."

Some time ago that BMW VIN Decoder changed "2U73" to "2U7C" and "M2 Competition" to "M2 Cs".

That's exactly what I thought when I saw it.

Incredible info in this thread, sir! Do you have the power to make them get imola red back into the color palette? My wife would order one in a millisecond if it was in imola.
