I pushed the trim tool in the gap of the trim and the DCT gear leave (red arrow) on photo , you will see the front of the trim bend up and un hook.
I managed to fit that part OK. In fact that was the easiest of the three. Although my new part isn't as flush as my old one was on the M135i.

I'm struggling with the black plastic trim with the M logo on it in the centre of the shifter. It's not shifting

I saw that tip too, in fact I'll try that first.

I've got a similar plastic trim tool and will try that.

Cheers.
NO! Use dental floss.
I used edge of a trim tool, once I got the edge i you just rock it up and down gently ( like moving a loose tooth lol) what would help is use a hair dryer first to warm up the gear leaver to loosen up the M3 tape.

Do you have a link to a write up on this? I've been wanting to mess w/the trim but worried about the airbag.

I did the additional interior carbon, as per the OP. It really lifts the interior. I did the shifter, surround and handbrake first which looked great, but the lack of steering wheel carbon started to bug me, so I bit the bullet and did that too. I have the black grills and gills, MPE and carbon diffuser, but I'm trying to resist any further exterior carbon...wish me luck!

The dental floss trick on the DCT shifter insert is definitely the way to go, just go steady and it comes off cleanly to the point that it's reusable, should the replacement ever get scuffed.

Managed to make the swap yesterday. The black plastic on the shifter was not budging so the MP CF is there to stay. No way am I going to try getting it off come resale.

The black plastic for the new one wasn't a great fit either and there's virtually no gap to stick even the thinnest of flat head screwdrivers in there.

Had to really force it in and there was a loud snap. Thankfully no damage.

The alcantara and CF surround isn't a great fit either.

Funny because the same parts in my M135i fit perfectly and were much easier to install and remove.

CF mirrors next. *gulp*

Not sure yet mate. The alcantara "patch" is actually starting to bug me, I don't think it looks right in the middle of the black plastic. Im thinking I will prefer the carbon surround with the standard black plastic base......

Will post up final pictures once I have combined the two.

You are making me think now. I like how it flows with the doors and gear gater

I mean, it seemed you did some parts, didn't know if the rest was already carbon or you had the other stock option.
I had black gloss, pulled the trigger and bought all the stock open pore carbon with the roundel discount!
Can wait to swap them
