NOT M2 vs TTRS thread..just observation

I am looking to lease or buy a vehicle for the wife. I stopped in to the local audi store today to check out, S5, AllRoad, QS5, Q7. After 90 minutes and driving my fill of Grocery Getters, the SA asked me if I wanted to drive something a little more fun. About a week before my visit, a gentlemen traded in a 2018 TTRS for a 2018 RS5. He only had to ask once, and being that I wanted to love the RS3, I said yes please, I will drive the TTRS.
Let me just say that it is easily top 2-3 of the fastest cars I have ever driven!!!!
Claimed 0-62 is 3.7 seconds. I believe it! I've driven Porsche, lambo, ferarri, countless other audis, m3's, m5's. From 0-80 it feels very similar to r8v10plus.
I am(used to be) an AudiFanBoI, but I never cared for the looks of the TTRS. I still do not, but man do I respect the speed and feel of the car.
Even though its faster, I would not take it over a RWD 6spd Manual. I am still hot on the trail of a M2/M3 for my self and I will let the wife pick her favorite 4 ringed vehicle.

Teslas and TiTs will always be fun for straight-line pulls from a dig! No arguing that...

TTRS/RS3 are absolutely awesome all around, all weather packages, one obviously more practical than the other. Obviously very different cars to the M cars and accomplish different things. The latest version of the 5 pot is really a brutal engine with tons of headroom.

There is always going to be a car faster than yours, but only a few that feel special.

I sat in the TTRS at the Chicago Auto Show and really liked the interior - it felt very cockpit-like if that makes sense. It also looks awesome from many angles on the outside - it's a really pretty car.

Still haven't gotten to ride in one (or an RS3 for that matter) but I am hoping to get to do that soon - I want to see how fast these babies are in comparison to my F80.

TTRS is a great little car, but it is a two seater. So was not on my radar. I have driven one a few times (a friend has the prior model). The new model ('18 is a step up from his) is tempting, but I am waiting to see the RS5 in the flesh. I have drive a 2015 on the track, and that was a hoot.

Dis guy...

Honestly, though if I was going to get an Audi, it would have to be either a TTRS or RS5 or something. All the other ones just look too bland for my taste. Even then compared to the M2 and the fact that it comes with a 6MT, not even an afterthought for me. I went to the Audi dealership before ordering, and I'm very glad I did, but it only reaffirms that I made the right choice to me. I appreciate a good Audi now more than ever before, but I wouldn't pick it over the M2.

Yes, I know it has "seats", but really? I can fit in the back seat of my M2 and I'm 6'. Now way I would try in the TTRS.

911's have back seats too.....

my (small) children's legs wouldn't fit behind my seat in the seating position I was in.
I only drove it for the experience, i dont want a TT!
I could however allow my wife to drive an RS3!
production is currently held up though

They’re stuck at port due to an EPA audit, along with the TTRS, RS5, R8 and Golf R. It looks like they started moving this week though.

I’m glad someone brought up the 911 back seats because yeah, if the 911 has a back seat than the TTRS does too. If you are putting a kid in a car seat even 2+2 is helpful.

Dealer I was in last week is waiting on their R8.....price is about $205,000 if you are interested. It was a plus model or something like that.

No new A8 or A6's due to model year change and issues with the Autonomous drive.

I am waiting to see the new AWD M5....I have $102,000 just sitting in my desk draw next to my Platinum and Gold Bars.

I agree - Audi generally does a nice job on the styling, interior and exterior - and they know that form following function doesn’t have to be ugly. However, I discovered something when I sat in the TTRS, RS5 and RS3 a couple of days ago: The “Fine Nappa Leather” looked really cheap - very shiny, sort of like a well-worn, rubber raincoat. I also wasn’t a fan of the overdone diamond pattern; it almost looked 60’s-style custom car - over-padded, with too much stitching and too many perforations in the pattern.
