There is a very small gap where the dash meets the base of the windshield. It is only around an 1/8” or around 3mm at most at the opening and if I had to guess around 5” or so deep. It is large enough for a credit card or parking pass to slip through and not be able to be retrieved. Not sure if this only applies to LCI but maybe someone with pre-LCI can confirm if they also have the gap.

Why am I bringing this up? I have my annual state park pass now completely stuck in this little gap.

I can see it and push it slightly side to side with a folded paper but am not able to get it out. I had placed the pass on the outer side of my sunshade so that it would be visible and when I lifted the sunshade to its final position the card slipped right into the crack.

It is not that big of a deal for me but figured if it happened so easily to me then it could also happen to one of you guys.

I could see a scenario where a parking pass could slip into the gap unnoticed and then resulting in a parking ticket for not having the stub displayed or losing something more important that is placed on the dash.

Absolutely love the car though and have learned a ton from this forum so hopefully by sharing this I can save a few of you a headache later down the road!

So next time you place anything on your dash, don’t forget to “Mind the Gap!”

Here is a picture of the Dashboard-windshield gap. It runs the entire width of the dashboard. Big enough for a credit card or parking pass to slip through but not big enough to get a finger or anything else in there to retrieve it.

Borrowed my kids old one - love it. Best thing I ever did in terms of audio (friend told me to do it and wow...)

But I have not noticed too many issues.

What variety of iPod do you have. Is it a Classic (hard drive with a click wheel)? Or an iPod Touch (solid state)? How are you connecting it (USB or bluetooth or ??)

Also do you have Exec package? (maybe the "fancier" electronics have the problem?)

Jealous! Wish I could say mine work fine.

Are you using it connected via USB in your 2018 M3? What version of iDrive is that running - do you know?

Mine is an old version (not a touch) connected via USB.
