Can the dealer help you on this, assuming you are buying from a dealer? My 135i Coupe, which I recently traded in on my soon-to-arrive M2, was bought used from a car dealer in Kentucky. The sales manager had a relationship with a car transporter who charged only $1000 to ship the car cross country, but this was only because they used this company regularly; everyone else wanted almost 2X that, and may or may not have brought it to my town as opposed to meeting me at the interstate almost 80 miles away.

When the car arrived, two dudes who looked like extras from the old movie "Deliverance" dropped the car off at my house, which is in a rural area. The car arrived fine, and it was open transport.

It generally costs a lot more to ship cars from East to West, rather than from West to East. If your seller has a relationship with a shipper, I would look into that option.

Intercity Lines is awesome

http://www.intercitylines.com/

While out of Boston, they can ship anywhere - but if you are in Colorado, there might be more of a delay. Jay Leno swears by them

Yep. These guys were great. Likely not the cheapest, but I had zero issues and the car arrived in perfect shape

These guys are right, you often get what you pay for with high-dollar transport services. I've shipped everything from pinball machines to motorcycles to Porsches to a FEMA trailer after Hurricane Katrina - going with the lowest bidder often ends up in stress and regret. Pay the extra for a shipper who cares about what they do.

You definitely want Car Fanatics to ship a Fanatic's Car.
