Best Seattle metro winter tire setup?

For Seattle drivers, what tire setup do you use in the winter rainy season when temps go below 40f but snow is rare in the city? And let's assume trips across the passes or ski trips might happen but rarely.

Summer performance tires seem inappropriate given the frequent temps <= 40f, but given the rare snow it seems like all season performance on backup wheels might be the best setup to run during Seattle winters. Thoughts and wisdom welcome, thanks.

Don't have winters on my M2, so don't drive too much in those months, but I have used Conti DWS in winter for my Audi. Great tires, no issues with traction in snow, either.

Michelin PA4 on stock diameter separate wheels. You'll barely even miss your summer tires.

Another option is Blizzak LM-32 255/40R18. My winter rims are from my old M4: Alzor Style 030 18x9 ET 35 all around, with 10 mm spacers.

I just use the stock tires and don't drive in the snow.

Same here. Been commuting all winter on my Contis. I was out of town over Xmas when we had some snow so I cant say how it would have performed. I probably would have taken it around the block just to see but with any threat of ice or snow the M stays in the garage and I take the bus to work.

If I 100% must get around in town in the snow, I either take my wife's car, do a Car 2 Go, Reach Now, Uber, or ZipCar. Works fine for the one day per year we have snow on the ground. If I had to go over the pass in winter I'd just rent a car for the weekend. Way cheaper and easier than buying $1,000 worth of snow tires and wheels and then having to store them in the summer for the once or twice per year I might need to go East of the mountains.
