Just to make things even more interesting, my friends 400 mile old M140i with just JB4 on pump fuel has recently done a 8.0 100-200kmh (corrected) on Vbox..
That is crazy quick and makes for such a sleeper!!! This B58 needs to be in the M2 as well, as it's showing the N55 up in the performance stakes..
Much more to a car than just 100-200 times I know, but still, I was massively impressed with the little M-lite

And yet an M2 easily walks away from an M240i. Fortunately, unhappy M2 owners can always sell their cars and buy the AWD drag champions they apparently were going to buy before they accidentally bought an M2.

Also, from a roll, I can attest that my M2 with 1800km odo pulls on an RS3 and a CLA45. From a roll. Other tests show that the M2 is significantly faster from 60-100kph and 80-120kph than the new TT-RS, a car that is not regarded as slow by anyone.

Hate to spoil the fact mate.

The in gear acceleration figures quoted in the German magazine (TTRS vs M2) for the

60-100 km/h run were in 4th and 5th gear
80-120km run were in 5th,6th and 7th gear

If the run was the done in 2nd gear for the 60-100km/h and in 3rd gear for the 80-120km the result would be much different.

It shows that the TT-RS is more laggy than the M2 because of the smaller capacity engine and also running on a bigger turbo charger.

In absolute terms the TT-RS will be much quicker on a straight but it has to be in the right gear.

The facts are there. Elasticity is important, especially if you have a manual transmission. You don't have to make as many gear changes and the car feels stronger and faster.

I'd also take a slightly slower car if there is significantly less lag. Lag kills the joy of driving.

M2 constantly runs in 8.7s-8.8s from 100-200, with high flow dp on JB4 map2 (not m2 specific firmware), 98RON. Already quicker than M4 ZCP. I do not believe B58 on just JB4 is that much quicker, it equals to s55 in stock form if anything.

Tell us more about the "corrected" 100-200.

It's really not. You feel the "specialness" of the M2 every time you drive it and every time you look at it. Track or public roads alike.

I chose a second M2 although I was contemplating the M140i xDrive for a while as it would be a more sensible choice for me.

I love my M235i as a daily driver and it's fun on the weekends, but it's not an M2. If money were no object I would have one of each. Or an additional Caymen, with the flat six thank you very much! If I needed a new everyday car, I would still go for the M240. I do wish we could get the M140 in the US. five doors would be great. And what a sleeper, blowing away older mustangs and even vettes! I'm also disappointed that we will no longer get the 3 series station wagon. But at least we get 25 different versions of X SUV/CUVs. :-(

Fair enough consensus seems on that ,the M2 is still special but the 240i is suprisingly a great car....wonder what the service cost difference is a lot I bet,

I wouldn't know, I don't buy cars unless I get free servicing for the life of the lease. Last service on my M2 cost me something like ten of your brexited pounds, because I paid an insurance excess reduction.
