Finally a decent digital speedo. Porsche only did this like 10 years ago.
Retrofit would be insanely expensive, complicated and not worth it. Not to mention the value loss in an odometer alteration.

Am I missing something? The new cluster is not digital. It has analog speedo and tach. It now has a digital gas gauge but that's it?

It's not.

Nope. Watch the video. There's a needle there. It moves before the cluster lights up.

Look closely, there is a digital speed readout between the dials. Much easier to read than a dial. The current instruments also have one, but it is really tiny.

I agree,it looks digital but it would be nice to have confirmation from someone who has picked up the LCI.Johanva,is the new instrument cluster digital?

No, it's not 'digital'. It's backlit, lighting up the pre-printed figures. Also when switched off, the figures can be seen when you look closely.

On board computer itself (under the dials), is digital of course.

Bigger sized figures for the digital speedometer: BMW is a bit late to the party. The M2 should have had this feature from day 1. But finally they caught up.

Also they got the M "red" needle correct this time even for the fuel gauge!

Artemis' pre LCI F87 M2 dash with white fuel gauge needle.

M2 F87 LCI with proper M Red fuel gauge needle!

Non-M F22 LCI dash needles are white.

I think I already know the answer (sadly!), but as you have a manual transmission...does the LCI have the ability to diable the throttle-blip?. Pre-LCI can only disable the blip when the traction control is completely off.

These new gauges sure seem digital to me, but have an analog look. There does not appear to be a physical needle mounted to a center post as in the pre LCI. I would almost call them a hybrid.

In dark lighting conditions, the lower white cluster of the pre-LCI M2 changes from white to amber/orange. ///M logo on the rev counter is very subdued in daylight and a little visible at night.

I doubt it, doesn't even look like you can sync the climate control!

I'm happy with the pre-LCI instrument cluster. It reminds me of the older generation M cars.

Can't believe something that has raised so much criticism, hasn't been addressed. LCI would be the perfect time to code that option in.

Be good to get confirmation from an LCI owner.

Eye of the beholder I guess - but I prefer the look of the trim in the OP's pic. To my eye, it helps integrate all the dash components much better. Matches the trim around the side vents, and the steering wheel, and the glove box latch, and the accents on the sides of the radio & climate controls, etc. Pulls it all together. Piano black's not bad - just has nothing to do with anything else on the dash (other than than sorta matching the "background" shiny black surrounds of the radio/climate unit).

I've not seen an option to pick that trim - not even on the bmw.de site (which does, in fact let you pick chrome exterior trim) - so I'm kinda hoping it's the default, and that mine comes the same way as the OP's (week 33 - soon!). That said, whichever way it comes I think the new dash is huge improvement. Never liked the "melted vinyl" drooping over the trim above the glovebox in the current car (like my M235i). I really find that same "melted" effect in the 3/4 series to be awful. But to each his own - I'm sure some find it appealing.

But chrome around the windows on the outside is dead wrong - That's gotta be black.

Great to see these things in the wild - thanks to the OP for all the pics & vids!

Of course you're right - it's all a matter of opinion; that said, I agree with your interior analysis/opinion 100%.

Not saying it's a big deal or that I would have hesitated to pounce on a 2017 if I had been ready to buy earlier, and also not saying that the looks & performance & sound aren't by far the most important aspects of the car - just fun to overnanalyze such an appealing sporting machine (esp when you're waiting to have one built).

Will do this today. I don't have the adaptive LED's (too expensive for what you get imho).

It's not (completely) digital, only the lower part is (except for the fuel needle) and the theme doesn't changes when choosing another drive mode. The cluster is always white, day and night.

Haven't found it and also haven't driven without TC but I'll test that.
Also can't find to turn of the shift indicator in the iDrive. Anybody knows where that is in iDrive6 (if possible)?

Thanks Johanva, appreciate the time you'e taking to show us the changes!. I would imagine if the throttle blip can be disabled, it would be via iDrive and should be in the manual somewhere. Given that the throttle is drive-by-wire, it should be the easiest thing for them to code.

My suggestion...link it to the redundant "M Button" so when you press it, you get a sport+ mode that stops the blip!.
