Which rim for track ?

Hi folks,

I wonder if I should buy specific rims only for my track days. I currently have the OEM 265R19 at the rear and these tyres are really difficult to find, rather expensive, and not available for several interesting semi slicks recommended by some of you. If I could get rims for a reasonable price and that I could use with 18" tyres it could be a good deal financially speaking

=> WDYT ?
=> any rim to advise ?

Thx for your kind feedback

There's a thread about tire rack having a square 18in wheel setup. After camber plates that's what I'm looking to get. It would be nice to save some money by being able to rotate tires http://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1311897

Until then, once my tires go, I'm going to be looking at the m3/m4 tire sizes. 255 up front and 275 at the back. There seems to be a bigger selection for that size than our stock sizes and the f8x tires fit just fine from what I've read. Makes sense since it's the same wheel.

Thanks, good to know for the M3/4 tyres !

I saw the other topic indeed. Sent a message to Keith but haven't received an answer yet and the issue is that it's never easy to buy in EU from the US, and the customs taxes usually make it very expensive ... although this seems a great solution !!!

I am happy to help, as we have quite a few lightweight and affordable options for the M2. What type of tire do you plan to run, and what is your desired tire size?

18x9.5" ET35 square, as well as 18x10" ET33 square are both very popular rotatable square fitments for track oriented M2's.

Thanks Ryan.
Do you need spacers with these config ?
Which tire size would you recommend ?

Unfortunately buying in EU from the US makes it too expensive (35% custom + shipping cost)

Take a look at this thread, it should help with the different configurations and it will also provide images of each. With rotatable square fitments, spacers are used up front for proper inner strut clearance. Tire sizes typically range from 265/35-18 to 275/35-18. There are a handful of guys running 285/30-18 square as well.

I will PM you the details of a couple of our EU dealers as well
