Thanks to this forum I was aware of the Contis showing up on the M2s. I told the dealer that I would not take delivery of the car if it had Contis on it and even included that in the paper work. Lo and behold, when the car came in, it has Michelins. Thanks guys!

I like how a lot of people here treat the Continentals like they get a N52 engine instead of the N55. I bet 99 % of the people couldn't even tell the difference if no one told them what tires they got.

I wonder about (and doubt this). I thought the ps4s was engineered to be a better rain tire.

Looks close to a 50/50 split for the MY17 cars so far, interesting stuff. Thanks to all that have voted up to now.
Maybe the dealers replaced the MPSS with CSC3 to save some money on the tires before giving to the customer and came up with some BS about it coming from the factory?

This is my theory too! (I got Conti's but I use RE71s for track and Autocross).

I got my delivery today and it came with Continentals. I'm in the same mindset and plan on getting p4s's anyhow. Enjoy the car!

I think that worked out nicely for you - because they would have sold your car to the next guy in line

I seriously doubt this is a cost issue. It's a manufacturing issue. The line uses JIT manufacturing and requires multiple suppliers. Otherwise if Michelin were to have a manufacturing/delivery issue, BMW's only choice would be shutdown the line and send everyone home.

Problem BMW will have is the fact that Im so damn stubborn I'll keep calling until (and even after) I've worn the first set out and replaced with MPSS's. Why would you equip a majority of cars with MPSS and then throw Contis at the rest? @Chris719 had it correct, this is a bean counter decision.
Update: After continuing my barrage of talks with both the dealership and BMW corporate it was decided that BMW would provide 2 new rear PSS's, the dealership would provide 1 front, and I would pay cost for the other. Just had the PSS's installed today and can already tell the huge difference between the two. Not a total victory as I wanted them to pay for everything but I did get 2500 miles out of the Conti's and they let me keep the 2 front tires. All in it cost me $261 for the 1 front tire but they did do the install for free. Guess in this case persistance paid off, YMMV

Unfortunately I can't edit the poll we'll need to start a new thread I think.

Hey Artemis is there a way we can edit this to include MY18?

As requested "MY18 MPSS" and "MY18 Conti" options have now been added to the poll.

Funny, my dealer said it's out of their hands. If it comes with Conti's...too bad. Fortunately I got MPSS.

My late production 2017 M2 came with ContiSport 3. They are a decent tire, but they get pretty noisy if you run a few track days on them. They're 90% as good as the MPSS and they are a star spec, after all.

Just some incentive to work them hard and get them off the car to replace with new P4S tires :-) I'm running MPSC2 tires for the track on separate wheels.

Picked up my MY18 yesterday and it had MPSS. I wasn't that fussed either way but happy to have the Michelins.
