Yes, Minichamps is German. Just so happens I stopped by Minichamps in Aachen yesterday afternoon. Looked like they were closed all day (no sign listing business hours) and I'm not even sure they have a store but they do have a little display area with some nice models on show. They are located in an industrial park and look like a pretty big operation.
Poor iphone photos below and I didn't even think to get a pic of my car in front of the building but the third shot, which my phone took by itself, is kind of nice as it has my car in the reflection. It's about 7 minutes from Kohl BMW (AC Schnitzer). As for the model itself, being Minichamps, I hoped it would be better. Other 1/18 models I have from them are much higher quality but I'm pretty sure I paid more than 90 Euros for them. Nothing opens, the wheels do turn and the front wheels steer but all are pretty loose. The plastic frame supporting the box comes apart and you can just leave it on the base (it's screwed on). I got mine in the Welt gift shop and if I had not just taken delivery of my M2...and had a 10 Euro discount voucher, I'd probably have left it but it was the right color and so, a bit of an impulse purchase. |

I received my Minichamps 1:18 M2 in LBB last week. Whilst overall I am generally pleased with the model, I have to admit disappointment in certain areas.
Firstly none of the doors/bonnet/boot open. Secondly the mesh in the front bumper isn't as finely detailed as it could be, but my main disappointment is the interior detail. There is virtually no dashboard detail, no rendering of the carbon fibre trim or metal details such as the i-drive control or console controls/switches. I have owned a considerable number of BMW 1:18 scale models over the years, most have had exquisitely detailed interiors. I also have a vast collection of 1:43 cars, including many Minichamps all of which have far superior interior detail. Perhaps this forthcoming model from GT Spirit, if prototype images are representative, may address these shortcomings? https://gts-models.com/en/gt170/260-...oupe-2016.html |

I was also slightly disappointed to see no opening of anything! This is my first Minichamps model and I figured that was the norm for their models. The model is still very accurate and the LBB paint is dead-on, but Auto-Art is light-years more detailed and worth the extra $50 or so (to me).
I bought this one just in case no other company makes the M2 in 1:18. |

I have also emailed BMW enquiring as to whether there are to be any dealer editions of either 1:18 or 1:43 and am awaiting a reply. |

For those waiting on the MG model, I preordered mine using this website a couple weeks ago and it now shows up on my credit card statement so looks like it shipped out recently.
It is showing four units "in stock" now. I would get one if you are interested as they have been making them in limited runs and selling out very quickly. https://www.miniatures-minichamps.co...m2&results=239

Finally my two units came.
Thanks to spielwaren werst,a toy shop in germany who helped me liase with Minichamps and they were also the ones who sent me the models. On a side note, the packaging of this minichamp model really needs work. It looks extremely cheapo looking. A far cry from autoart models imho. |

That's the M2 CS PE (Performance Edition). It can be spec'd with the silver wheels, and the stripe on the left or right side. It's DCT only. I'm #1 on my dealer's list when this model becomes available in North America.
