And if this does happen...the CS will be driven like it should and the GTS will be put away never to be driven by the vast majority of owners....sitting collecting dust in collections and garages sad.
I hope manufacturers step away from this limited production crap. The 1 of 106 McLaren F1 is limited to 106 cars because they could only sell that many which is the way it should be. In no way am I comparing the McLaren F1 to a possible M2 GTS...but would be nice to see more "limited" production cars limited due to natural sales vs being capped...this way owners will drive them... My rant for the day!! |

I have a deposit down on a CS with agreed MSRP in writing.
If the CS does not come in manual transmission I will just get the standard M2. Really hoping for the M2 CS to have a optional manual transmission.

I am the first one on the list for M2CS, and they will sell at MSRP. As long as its manual I will go it, otherwise will backout.

I've seen plenty of M4 GTS being tracked , not only on forums but in person as well, and I know a fellow who used his in a BMW CCA CLUB RACING School as well. If BMW makes an M2 GTS with a manual, I can GAR-ON- TEE I know at least one that will see a lot of track time. Here Endeth My rebuttal to your rant. |

M2 CS UPDATE (AUGUST 2017): forum fellow ynguldyn kindly shared in a few comments in a dedicated M2 CS thread some of his collected M2 CS info, which we could summarize and detail as follows:

That list to which reference is made is old news over here. It was published in full and debated at Bimmerpost almost six months ago: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1358847. Identical, except for the watermark. Except if BMW fooled us all, the "M2 Competition" mention in that referenced list = M2 CS. The only thing I noticed worth mentioning though: recently an M2 test mule was lapping the Nürburgring again with an N55 sounding engine while most other M2 test mules had a distinctive S55 sounding engine (see here: http://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...3#post16905583). It puzzled me why. Maybe it's for comparison purposes ?

So... Who's gonna trade in their M2? I'm about to pick up a 2018 LCI and most likely gonna trade it in at this point.

I have a 1st available slot for 4th qtr build. I turned down a 3rd quarter slot to await CS news. I hope we know what they are doing by @ January.

Like I've been holding off on buying the M2 because of the CS news, and what's worse is that there won't be any damn MG... I mean silver won't be bad, it just really bums me out. So now it just boils down to two questions, do I wait for the M2CS? Or do I buy my M2 and trade in Down the line for the CS because at this point I'm blue balling myself to death

Is owning a P car (like a GT4 or so), so much more expensive in terms of maintenance and parts?

A fellow 1M owner switched to a Cayman. He loved it for a few years and recently commented to me that the Cayman was a better track car , but not a better daily and also more expensive than the 1M maintenance wise. I think dmboone25 has experience with Cayman and an M car as well. |

Spotted this interesting VIN info excerpt, of which the VIN # and production date info were not disclosed (source: see a comment under this article - about the article itself: see however this post):
Type: 2U73So what do we got here: M2 CS ("M2 Competition") - USA model - S55 engine - 3.0 litre - 302 kW - Hockenheim Silver exterior (BMW paint code C33) - perforated black Dakota leather with blue stitching 302 kW = 410.6 hp (metric) = 405 hp (mechanic) (this corresponds with the power figure in the first post of this thread). Thus a 40 hp (metric) power bump compared to the base M2, albeit with a different engine (S55 instead of N55). If legit (I think it is), this may possibly limit most further speculation about the engine type and (minimum) power output of the forthcoming M2 CS. However, we do not know whether this VIN info regards an early or recent M2 CS test mule. Nevertheless, it gives us a yardstick.
